may seem like a funny question but read on, for this question i would vote the facts (because im a very logical, methodical guy). i got thinking about this because of the common belief that the sun is yellow, i disagree with this because the sun has to be white! if it weren't, the sky wouldnt be blue and we wouldnt get rainbows, because they are both formed by the refraction of white light into six colours (yes six, not seven. interesting story, if you want to hear it read on, if not, get voting)

the refraction of light was discovered back in the days of crazy religion nuts running england. To have claimed that a rainbow (a work of god) had six colours (number of the devil) would have got clever mr science man hung (or hanged, i can never remember) so he essentially invented the colour violet, true story, next time you see a rainbow look closely, there is only ONE shade of purple

Facts because your eyes are manipulative bastards who only let you see what you want to see. Seriously, screw you, eyes subjective.

If you look hard enough you will see the facts the way they are so technically both.

Huh. Interesting, always did wonder about that. I've never exactly seen a differentiation in any rainbow in the sky between the blue and purple. And for lack of any better reference, I've never seen a rainbow flag, button, or anything with 7 stripes either.

no, there are blue and purple, but most people think thee are two shades of purple (indigo and violet) while actually there is one

I know that, I said I've never seen anything -between- blue and purple before. Half the time I forgot about indigo or violet or whatever random color they say is between there to be honest.

Just because there is white light present, it doesnt mean that it is the predominant color. There could be (i have no idea what the numbers should be so im just making up an example) 24 photons of white light per square inch, adn 50 photons per square inch of yellow photons, it would look yellow, but white light is still present. That is my theory, doesnt mean it's right, google why does the sun look yellow and you will prolly get a good answer.
so i guess my answer is both.

also, i had never heard that about the violet thing. Not sure if i believe you cuz im pretty sure my high school earth schience reference table had an energy range for violet, but i could be wrong. Also, i think ive seen 2 shades of purple from a prism, but that was even longer ago, so once again, i could be wrong. I would be interested in reading your source for that.

I believe neither, facts can be manipulated with psuedo-logic or people lying and you're eyes are even less reliable.
P.S. technically if light is split it releases every colour of light, as the colours merge between the main bands there are thousands of colours....

im afraid ive never actually studied photons so i cant really relate to what you just said (although i am smart enough to get a vauge idea) but i would imagine from a planet with an atmosphere orbiting a red giant, the sky would appear red

oh i heard about it from my cool science teacher, of course i didnt actually believe it fully untill i next saw a rainbow when i saw first-hand that it was true
