No love for Frank Welker? The man has monopolized the whole fucking animal kingdom when it comes to voice acting.

Who do I respect? Well, there's Billy West and John DiMaggio like in the OP, but Patrick Warburton and Cam Clark are also favorites. Also, as previously posted, Mark Hamil has done wonders with the Joker. Egoraptor has a great voice too, even though he hasn't done anything professional that I'm aware of

Who do I respect most? I'm going to go with Trey Parker. As a voice actor, he's kinda shit compared to everyone above, but I have the greatest respect for him as an entertainer than pretty much everyone else in the spotlight.

Sorry, but I'm a Steve Blum fan. He's been everywhere and he's totally recognizable.

Your poll has a distinct lack of Jennifer Hale.
You may know her as the voice of every female character ever, and the reason other women can't get VA gigs.

Definitely John DiMaggio. And that isn't because of the poll. Upon seeing the thread name I looked up Futurama to get his name because I drew a blank. I was pretty happy to see it was already an option.

I was completely ignorant about Steve Blum until I just looked at his IMDB profile. The fact that he did the voice of Abathur in HotS puts him straight to #1. I also think Chris Metzen does an awesome job for the various Blizzard characters.

Honorable mention to Mike Patton for playing the Anger Core from the first Portal game and the various infected in L4D!

Well others might find my choice odd my vote goes to Liam O'Brien. While he doesn't have as many prestigious roles as others in this thread. He has a unique style of speaking that makes certain characters stand out and draw me in, especially his work as Lezard in Valkyrie Profile 2. Lezard is a character to this day that i am still infatuated with because i feel the voice acting was so spot on with his character.

I do find myself sometimes thinking, "Yay! It's Dempsey!" an awful lot."

He was PERFECT for Bulletstorm as well.

Also Seth MacFarlane. Think of him what you will, but I believe he is a good voice actor.
I'd have to agree. I know a lot of people around here aren't exactly fans, but his voice acting range is pretty amazing.

Other than that, more David Hayter love, and Patrick Stewart in Oblivion. I know it was just his voice, but his voice is awesome. He's also Comissioner Bullock in American Dad, which is just his voice again, but it's weird to imagine Patrick Stewart saying half the things the character does.

Mel Blanc

Freaking vocal wizard that guy was. He was the Looney Tunes.

I also always kinda liked Christine Cavanaugh.
There you go, have a lolly. You saved me having to state what should have been painfully obvious to the OP.

MEL BLANC.

Jennifer Hale and Gideon Emery, simply because on top of being very talented, they are completely awesome, down to earth and inspiring people in their every day lives.

Mel Blanc, he was simply the original and the best. Pretty much every voice actor in the world owes him a debt of gratitude!

Megumi Hayashibara & Hayami Shou. It's also helps that they can sing really well.

Kath Soucie, Cree Summer, Richard Horvitz, Charles Adler, Christine Cavanaugh, Keith David, Tress MacNeille, Rob Paulsen, Tony Jay, Tom Kenny, Tara Strong, David Matranga, Lisa Ortiz, Luci Christian, Mel Blanc, Micheal Winslow......

& of course......LittleKuriboh.

Does anyone else just absolutely hate it when movies use Hollywood actors instead of professional voice actors?

Vincent Price & Phyllis Diller did some voice acting, though usually playing themselves. I'm making an exception for those two because I inexplicably love their voices.

To be fair, the Hollywood people are still actors, so they're really no less qualified than professional VA, and they bring more name recognition for an adult audience.

The only time it really bugged me was when they got famous names for the Chipmunk movies... and then sped up their voices so you couldn't recognize them anyway.

Mel Blanc for the obvious Vintage requirement. He held Warner Brothers' entire gallery of characters aloft. About thirty characters with the major and minor ones put together - all voiced by one man. The mind boggles. Nowadays, Warner's roster is broken up in-between several industry greats, but we'll never recapture the Blanc era and its sheer awesomeness.

I mean, the dude ended up in a coma after a car accident, and his freaking characters were the first ones to emerge. If that's not a sign of dedication and of general love of the craft, I don't know what is.

As far as our contemporaries are concerned, I've got a thing for Scott McNeil. He's much more limited than Blanc, but God if his Rattrap-Dinobot exchanges didn't crack me up. Add Waspinator to the same scene for added lulz.

Yeah, I'm sort of a Beast Wars fanboy.

Jennifer Hale.

Seriously the woman is everywhere, and she's good. I think I would have like Mark Meer's Shepard better if I hadn't listened to Hale own the part on my first play through.

Mark Hamill, the Joker as far as cartoons go is DEAD without Hamill, I KNOW it shouldn't be so but his performance is absurdly convincing of a madmen. Crap, when I READ the comics I imagine his voice lol

I'd also like to point out, though I don't know his name, that the voice actor of Batman (the tv series, Arkham Asylum, Arkham City) is also great, he has this serious monotone, that turns out to be downright intimidating; HOWEVER I don't think he is as irreplaceable as Mark Hamill...

Edit: the voice actress who dubbed Morrigan (Dragon Age)rocks, her voice is downright kickass, it's not dumb, it's not silly, it's downright serious.
