Poll: Who else can do this?

I've always thought that I was the only one in the world that could do this. I was wondering if there was anyone else. I once did a google search and found a few others but, I'm wondering just how common it is.

I put it in spoilers as it may be rather unpleasant. Unless you've seen someone stick their nose up their tongue, then this isn't a big step.

I can put my tongue behind the Uvula, up and above the soft palate, to where the hard palate begins, I've figured that this is where the nasal passages all meet and it is right by where that tube to the ears is.

Pretty close to being able to do that. I suppose if my tongue was longer I could. I can touch my uvula with it, but not reach any further. Cept why anyone would really want to do that is beyond me, so it might be more common then you think, just not something everyone tries, and then goes out of their way to find others that can.

Even if I could bring myself to try, I doubt I could do it; I'm not a very flexible person, even with my tongue.

It is scientifically impossible to swallow or choke on your own tongue. Reason being is that your tongue has a bit of muscle that connects the bottom to the bottom of your mouth. You can move your tongue all around your mouth, but it is physically impossible to swallow it. When someone's injured and people try to prevent an unconcious person from swallowing their tongue, they actually risk doing more harm by messing around the unconcious person's mouth. So you have nothing to worry about .

On topic, no, I can't do that.

Well its not so much as I looked for this, I sort of just found out I could do it somehow. I think something was irritating me and I tried to figure out what. Then I learned that I could do this. I've found like 2 other people with some google searches.

I've just wondered if anyone else could. When one has time, one makes a thread and learns things.

Long tongue. Take a look at Alucard or kiss, just not quite as long as Alucard's.

Oh, I wasn't actually afraid I was going to swallow it, but I just know I'd choke on it if I tried to put it that far back in my mouth. Not to death or anything, it's just my intolerably powerful gag reflex.

Thanks for the info. though. I've heard people say that it's impossible to swallow your tongue before, so I always thought it was strange that some people tried to stop it from happening when people have seizures and the like.

That's just when the tongue blocks air flow. I can block airflow from an individual nostril. Again, I forget how this all started.

Pretty cool. The farthest back I can get to with my tongue is the back of the roof of my mouth.

But the hard palate? What, do you not have a frenulum? I guess you have both reach and flexibility.

Barely, my frenulum is basically only where the tongue and floor of mouth meet. Its actually pretty small, and it hardly restricts anything.

I used to have a thin membrane that connected my tongue to the bottom of my mouth, it ran along the center underside of my tongue from the tip all the way back. I could not raise my tongue off the bottom of my mouth at all. No whistling, no sticking my tongue out, i couldnt pronounce certain words correctly, and peanut butter sticking to the roof of my mouth had to be disloged with a finger. It generaly sucked. Finaly got it surgicaly cut when i was ~7 years old. However the membrane could only be cut to a certain point since it attached to the area where the saliva glands release saliva, so i still cant stick my tongue out that far, but luckly i can now remove peanut butter from the roof of my mouth and i can pronounce everything the right way.

OT: Odd Tongue story aside, no i cant reach that far back
