Rex is way more awesome. Though does anyone besides me think the names should've been switched? I mean, ray looks like a fucking giant metal T rex. Rex looks like a big awesome tank with legs.

REX was a sexy brick with a railgun and a face.

RAY was a pansy, girl-bot with wing-things.

Plus, REX is easily the more powerful of the two.

Neither could beat Jehuty or Anubis though.
Especially not Jehuty.

Best. Mech. Ever.
Are we talking Jehuty, Jehuty 2.0 or Naked Jehuty? (Not that any Metal Gear could even hold a fair fight with any of those, just wondering which you consider the best).
Does it matter? It's just different forms of the same mech, that mech being awesome.

RAY looks like something that has had its arms/wings chopped off. It has a face and a strange tail thing, it looks more giant animal than robot.

REX looks like a bad ass mecha, no rounded bits, just squared off mecha looking badassness...

I personally much prefer Gander's design in Metal Gear Solid for the Gameboy colour.
That battle was just awesome and it's easily the coolest looking out of all the iterations of Metal Gear.
It combines the best of RAY and REX into one.

That's like saying I'm supposed to like the Timberwolf more than the Summoner just because it's symmetrical.

I prefer REX, dude...

Coming from someone who hasn't played a MGS yet, I prefer the REX. He looks much more mechanical, raw, something you expect on a battlefield. RAY looks like an alien thing you expect in a JRPG.

Also, this is one cleverly constructed versus thread. Kudo's for your ninja skills Amnestic.

Out of REX and RAY, REX wins because it has nukes.

Arsenal Gear destroyed Manhattan, though, which I think wins it the award for Most Destruction By A Metal Gear.

A versus thread? Me? I'm debating the very essence of what we call Beauty and you accuse me of making a versus thread? Good sir, you wound me.

Rex seems better because the design is more believable.

I can't say much else, as I haven't actually played the games.
then do so now
The idea never interested me.

And whenever anyone talks about it, all they do is complain about the length of the cutscenes.
It's not an attractive quality in a game.

The cutscenes are what makes the game. People who complain about the length of the cutscenes are probably the same people who complain that RPGs have too much dialogue.

Basically, fools and horses.

The thing about that is that the dialogue in RPG's tends to be optional (though to get the most immersion out of the game, you really should talk to everyone).

It's not that I have a problem with the cutscenes to be honest, it's more the way I feel like I've missed the boat in a way. I haven't played any of the games, nor do I have the time to do so.
