Just curious, of all the fantasy Dark Lords which one do you think about first when someone mentions "Dark Lord"?

Who, for you, is the most iconic Dark Lord of them all.

I've based the contestants on the wikipedia page [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_lord]. Selecting the best known one from the serious fantasy IPs.

Uhm, I don't mean to be rude but I just want to warn you that some people might take offense to Satan being called a fantasy character.

Speaking directly to the text, Voldemort is called "The Dark Lord" almost every time someone is referring to him. Everyone else on this list has several nicknames, however with Voldemort being exclusively titled the dark lord by other characters in canon, I'm going to have to go with him.

I want to say Vader just for my love of Star Wars, but he turns out all good in the end and repents and shit so I think Sauron, if you think about it he comes close to the general idea of the devil.

Darth Revan is Dark Lord of the Sith.

Though the real Dark Lord is Morgoth. (The one who made Sauron evil.)

Even to Christians (except for the redneck ones), Satan is more a symbol of temptation to do evil than an actual entity.

Why is Voldemort even on the list? Sure, he's a hardcore racist, but not even close to Sauron, or even Dracula.

Well, that picture of Voldemort just makes him look like a pansy (Oh look at me, my magic is so powerful it hurts to use it, so I am just going to grimace at you menaci... Ow! Ow... Owwie, my hand hurts!)

So yeah, Satan, besides the fact that he isn't a fantasy character, is the ultimate Dark Lord, but Vader is my personal favorite.

What, no Darth Sidious? He was frankly much more evil than vader.

apart from that, Satan. All of these guys basically work for the dude, spreading evil. so, really, he's the big fish here.

Yeah, sorry if I missed any.

It was a tie between putting the 'Other' option and 'Mordru'. But an other option really was needed so he had to fall.

And seeing as some fantasy IPs have multiple dark lords (Revan, Sidious and Vader, Morgoth and Sauron etc.) I felt I should probably stick to just one. The most well-known one specifically as to avoid any debates on power etc. We all know how messy those can get.

And I don't think you can really argue that Vader is better known then Revan/Sidious and Sauron better known then Morgoth (by us earthlings, not in their respective fantasy universes).
