Who the hell is Ganondorf? He doesn't look particularly evil at all.

In seriousness, Voldemort -- he's always called the Dark Lord. My 2nd place would be Sauron. I feel the Emperor from Star Wars fits the bill more than Darth Vader does.

Voldemort.
'Cause he's referred to as The Dark Lord,
and 'cause he's a raving psychopath with immense knowledge of dark magic,
and 'cause he scares the living bajeezus out of the entire population except for two people.

EDIT: And Darth Vader may have built a death star, but Voldy aimed to be the MASTER of death! That's ambition!

Can't be Darth Vader because he sacrificed himself to save that git that is Luke.
Can't be Voldermort because he was defeated through fetch-quest(Movie Bob points this out quite well in his review of the 7th Harry Potter film) by a one of the whiniest heroes known to man.
Can't be Ganondorf or Sauron because they were both defeated by midgets.
Can't be the Lich King because he's basiclly every high-level WoW player's ***** by now.
Can't be Dracula because one of weakness's is garlic.
So the one and only true Dark Lord is Satan.

Really Really you put Sauron up there... Sauron's a lackey not a real Dark Lord. The guy has lost every single fight he's ever been in. He's a good General but no where near Dark lord calibre. For that you want his boss Morgoth, now he IS the Dark Lord of the Lord of the Rings Universe.

Of those who are referred to as The Dark Lord, Voldemort gets my pick.

Vader doesn't really qualify for the title, in my opinion, since he turned good at the end. I don't have enough information about Sauron, but he and Voldemort almost tied. It came down to the fact that Voldemort had nothing happen to him in order to turn him evil, he just went down that path. Perhaps Sauron didn't either, but I don't have that info. Lich King was a possibility, but he was simply taking revenge, so I didn't think he had the right motivations. Dracula didn't have much of a global plan, so he's out. Finally, Satan is pretty powerless according to Biblical canon, so he is really out.

Edit: I realized I had only listed reasons I didn't pick anyone else. Here's why I picked He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Voldemort managed to use the darkest magic in order to remain immortal (something the other people on this list had handed to them), his flaw in maintaining this immortality was hubris, which is a classic Dark Lord flaw, and he was racist to the highest extent.

From that list, Sauron or Lich King are tied, cause they are the only ones that command vast armies of darkness (thus making them "Lords") the rest are just evil guys with a few minions.

From what I have read of the Cthulhu Mythos (if I remember correctly), he is one of the "lesser" old gods, so despite being an evil "lord" that is worshiped by a cult, and his pop culture thing going on, I personally wouldn't call him the most evil, cause there are bigger baddies.

And if you are including Satan (and not considering him to be fiction), then God is the MOST EVIL LORD, cause he created everything that has become evil in the world (universe?), and has done nothing to stop it.

Sauron, by far.

Why is Voldemort even on the list? Sure, he's a hardcore racist, but not even close to Sauron, or even Dracula.
Because throughout the books he is referred to by his supporters as "The Dark Lord"

And I have to say Voldemort. Im a pretty hardcore HP fan

I am honestly surprised satan is hardly getting votes I mean he is litterally the dark lord the guys who controls all evil manipulates people into doing bad things steals our souls and tortures billions in the afterlife to run his kingdom of sorrow.

Well first thing Darth Vader is nothing compare to Lord Sidious.
Anyway I voted for Sauron seeing how much powers he had (he forge nine rings to those kings and corrupted them, had powerful underling like Saruman and thousand of thousand of orcs, troll etc) and it took an entire army of elfs and humans and others to finish him off.

He ended up in that position over a disagreement and failed coup. Since he was technically cast down into that position, he kind of doesn't apply. Besides he used to be THE morning star. Then there's the whole point about the fact that some would argue that he is not fictional. While the poll is about 'fantasy' Dark Lords.

Sauron didn't forge the Rings except for the One Ring the others were made by the Elves though he did supervise.

Hey Hagi, y u no Skeletor?

But on a serious note, Dracula is to me the most like a Lord of the Manor type character.

I can't think of any way to say this without sounding like a douche, but I find all of the above to be a bit dull.
