Hmm, I'm not sure, as I've only flicked thru rather than thoroughly reading every page.
Glenn Beck, he's actually a comedian? I mean, I find him hilarious, but only because I thought he was being genuine and actually meant the crap he comes out with on Fox.
As for Larry the Cable Guy, I've got a tough decision to make with him, I've only heard parts of his act, and I'm not sure if he's just bad, or whether I just find his views objectionable, which of course means I'm not going to find him funny.
Many of us here like 'offensive' comedy, such as Frankie Boyle, maybe Larry is a lesser version of that, but coming from a viewpoint we personally don't like, maybe not an awful comedian, just not aimed at us. Just a thought, I'm not defending his material. (In fact, thinking back, I've heard the Blue Collar comedy tour and he's by far the weakest of the four, still, I'm sure I have a point, just about)
In the same vein, from what I've heard of Roy Chubby Brown, sure his material is racist, sexist, derogatory to almost everyone, and packed with offensive language, but I think he's at least writing new material, instead of so many of the 'club comics' who are still using the same gags they wrote 40 years ago about the darkies and how his wife is so fat that...
This time I don't think he's bad, just not a suitable style for an escapist audience.
I thought he was good in The League of Gentlemen too
Adam Sandler leaves me cold personally, althought one of my best friends loves his stuff, he has some on CD, and I just don't connect with it.
Andy Parson CAN be quite good, I think he's just struggling against such a high class collection of comedians around him, maybe he's just not in their league, and it makes him look bad. I think part of it comes from his radio comedy background, which generally aims for a gentler feel, and just has to be amusing, not 'I'm going to have a seizure' funny.
I personally enjoy almost all comedy, from Tony Hancock thru to now. Some of my favourites have been Eddie Izzard, Chris Morris, Stewart Lee, Bill Hicks, and all of them have met with blank stares and 'I don't get it, what's funny about that' from the masses at some point, doesn't detract at all from my feelings that they're all legends of their time.
