Love her to tears, even if she can be a bigot sometimes and confuses sex with gender a lot. She's not perfect, but she's good.

I feel like I take turns with Zhukov saying this, but her videos are just so damn boring and pointless. You could glean the same info from TvTropes. Make it a more fun while too.

I neither like or dislike her. The sooner the guys who get their knickers in a twist over her videos get over themselves the better it'll be for everyone!

I don't care generally. But I do get annoyed when she makes points that are blatantly illogical simply because that is influencing her viewers who aren't likely to seek rebuttals. She does frequently make good points but they are simply her taking feminist talking points and transposing them over games. And they don't always sync.

Every time she gets a new episode we get multiple topics dedicated to her but it always seems to be by people pointing out flaws in her argument. I can't recall the last time I've seen someone say they like her, even her defenders don't seem to care for her they just hate the amount of crap she gets.
I've never met her, so of course I don't like her. I don't like most of the people I have met, let alone any of the ones I haven't.

I don't...hate her. I don't like her either, but I don't hate her. Hell, I don't even really dislike her.

At least this one is in the Gaming interdiction zone then escaping into Off-Topic.

I find her reasoning to have severe flaws, her choice of evidence to be baffling, her logic contemptible and her and her followers demeanors damage the cause.

Right now I'm working on finding more gamer feminist critics on the internet, and my results have been sparse, with so far the best one not even being female. So right now for all of her flaws Sarkeesian is the best female feminist gaming critic on the entire English internet. I'll keep working on it for at least the next few days.
That is both funny and depressing at the same time.

I honestly just don't care anymore. I'm so burned out of hearing her name that I just can't care anymore.

At first I was interested because, even though I don't particularly agree with all of her points, I like to hear both sides of a debate before making up a concrete opinion of my own. But both sides have made this thing far too bile-filed for my tastes. The anti-Anita crowd with all of their disgusting insults and death threats do nothing but make gamers look bad, regardless of what they may think they're doing. And the pro-Anita crowd are far too often completely unwilling to have an intelligent discussion, instead choosing to take everything Anita says as gospel above reproach.

No thanks. No thanks on all of it.

To be fair, she did say later in the video that most NPCs are subjected to that violence, but her problem was with how gendered she believes it becomes when it is a prostitute.

Anyways, as for my personal opinion, I'm sort of neutral. She's a boring speaker (albeit she seems to be getting better), often does a horrible job in picking studies to cite, doesn't always give the clearest position of where she stands (seriously, is she against all sexualized female NPCs or not?), has decried advancements we have made as just being worse (e.g. the Damsel in Distress fighting back), and offers too few ideas of how to work around these problems, and when she does offer solutions, it tends to come across as more constricting (in a bad way) to storytelling rather than liberating (in a good way). At the same time, she does occasionally make good points, shows an understanding of certain game systems (e.g. win states) that I'd imagine most gamers don't really think about, and at least gets a discussion going.

Sure, I'd much rather have someone who does a better job at researching and presenting material than she does, but at least she is doing something. It really just comes down to whether or not I agree with her points, and just like everyone, she'll make some good and bad ones. So I'd say that I look forward to her videos, but at the same time, I wouldn't say that I fully agree with her.

I'm largely ambivalent to her. She's a boring and (should be) inoffensive mild feminist who gets people riled up for reasons largely imagined. She's talking about things that should be talked about, even if people claim she's making up the issue or conversely that everybody knows about it--sometimes from the same people.

I must admit, there's a small amount of schadenfreude in watching how much she upsets people, with or without cause. I maintain she could read the ingredients of a box of Corn Flakes and get as vitriolic response as if she had just called for the mandatory castration of all males.

Honestly, can you blame people for not exactly stepping forward?

Where are these people?

I've asked in about three of these threads and no one has shown me examples beyond going "oh, you know, around." I'm not trying to be funny but the only people I see posting who could be seen to be defending her usually post something along the lines of "she's boring but I think the subject matter is important."

I legitimately want to see examples of people heralding her as the second coming of FemChrist or even saying that they really like her because I'm clearly missing it, if it's as prevalent as some people suggest it is, you would think that it would be easier to find.

I don't know her. She could be a really nice woman. So I can't tell if I like her or not.

It's just that in her videos she often oversimplifies things and views them from a very narrow point of view without any context what so ever.

So if anything I dislike her style of working. I think the whole Anit-Sarkeesian-Mess that gamers hae gotten themselves into results from an almost childish inability to seperate the person from the content.

Don't like her, I knew her stuff even before she even started the kickstarter and she always struck me as a victim of "if you're a hammer all your problems look like nails". She strikes me as unproffessional, she once claimed that straw feminists was the most harmful trope out there or one of them which is just bizzarre considering all the other tropes out there.

And I also think given everything that's happened plus her tweets and some things I heard second hand about her and twitch that she fishes for controversy for hits, or at least she's started doing that recently.

Oh yeah and then there was the recent video where flat out lied about the hitman series.

I do kind of want to see how ridiculous her claims are gonna get because they keep getting into more and more extreme subject matter (for lack of a better word) but she's so boring and long that I can't.

Can we please make Making An Anita Thread a wrathable offense? If only for a couple weeks?

OT: I don't care. I am unable to care, because I've been inundated with endless Anita threads. In theory, I think she's all right but inaccurate, but in practice, I've run out of feelings to have. You people took them all. ALL OF THEM. Stop. Please. Stop.
4chan has an autoban script that activates whenever her name is posted. I wish we had one of those here. Do we REALLY need THREE threads about her on the first page? Are people just fishing for badges?

I've watched some of her videos, i'm not keen on her work (she seems to ignore anything in the games she plays that do not support her argument, which could be said of many journalists/critics)but the vitriol aimed at her is far too much.

Well her methods are questionable, her conclusions are shoddy, she has no respect for evidence that does not agree with her arguments, and she regularly takes things out of context to 'prove' her points, in conclusion I find her to be a poor scientist. Thus I tend to ignore her and her work, in fact I think she actually does more harm than good for feminists.

Edit

Also, all she does is complain, here's an idea Anita, maybe how about trying to think of some solutions to the problems you find.

That poll is short a few options. Where's the "She's alright" choice?

Is she less than perfect? Yes. Who isn't. Are there other people saying more accurate things about the plethora of Straight White Males in out industry? Yes.

But no, I don't hate her, and I do find her viewpoint interesting. So... do I like her?

I guess so.
