Nah, mate. I appreciate the length ya went to in order to illustrate the point. Back when I started, those flinging the term "noob" and "newb" around in a derogatory fashion were known as AOLer's, since they were the only degenerates who abused the language in such fashion (replacing letters with numbers, intentionally poor spelling/grammar, etc), and they were bloody easy to spot.

Since the 'net went mainstream (I'm old enough to have started on bulletin boards with a 300bps dial-up modem, when there was nothing to do except argue about whether an ISD could beat the Enterprise {easily, btw} and play MUDs), terms have changed so rapidly it's getting harder for me to keep up with. Wish I could get that kind of detail from my bosses.

At least you saw the internet grow up since it was a kid. A lot of adults don't know what a modem is :S

to me a noob is someone who is ignorant/foolish and tries to be tough shit, while a newb is someone who is new and doesn't try to bite off more than they can chew. They with both as stupid questions but the newb has justification because it could be their first time playing.
