So if i played a note on the saxaphone it would be Jazz?

If i played the violin it would be classical?

You realise how fucking ignorant that is?

Structure and music theory plays a huge role in making the genre.

Drowning Pool simply uses Verse-Chorus pop song structure.
Yes structure and music theory play a huge role.

But so do instrumentation and timbre.

Oh so your still saying that anything with a saxaphone is Jazz?

Instrumentation is only association with a genre, but it doesnt make one.
I'm not saying that at all. And instrumentation is part of a genre, as are structures and musical theory. You can have a metal song that doesn't use heavily distorted guitars. You can also have a metal song that utilises a simple structure.

It's not like a Nickleback song in which when it's overplayed too much it becomes shit. I find bodies on the internet a lot, but it never becomes bad, just a bit tiresome. Plus it's a classic metal/hard rock song, and the lead singer died, so I like hearing it more than I would Rockstar... damn I hate that song.

And I DO mean all AMV'S have these as the song they use.
That or:
Lux Aterna from Requiem for a Dream

or:
Clubbed to Death from The Matrix

Instrumentation never makes the genre.
Can you please point out when I said this at any point? Because this is verging on pointless trolling the way you're completely ignoring what I'm saying.

Let me repeat what I said before -

You can have a metal song that doesn't use heavily distorted guitars. You can also have a metal song that utilises a simple structure.

There is no one single aspect of a genre's make-up that is explicitly essential. Form, structure, timbre, instrumentation. These aspects of song-writing/crafting (along with others, such as certain recording techniques) all come together to create different genres of music.

It's a pretty lame song to begin with but now it's just like beating a dead horse until you make horse pancakes. I can think of about a thousand songs I'd rather listen to really, all of them good metal.

I have good memories of that song. It was the opening for Wrestlemania 2007 or 2008. Good times.

As for the song itself, not a fan of Drowning Pool, so not a fan of the song

No, but Down With the Sickness by Disturbed... that is an overplayed piece of shit. Seriously, glance at the guitar tabs for that crap. My mother could learn to play it in 10 minutes, and she's never picked up a guitar...
One would argue that its how good the song sounds, not the complexity, that makes it good.

Music is about creativity after all.

OT:

Its a good song, overplayed, but good. Please don't assume it's trying to be heavier than it is. Any person who's just picked up a guitar can play power chords and make them sound heavy, i'm pretty sure it sounds exactly like the band wanted it too.

'Bodies' falls into the same musical category as Limp Bizquick (or whatever) and ICP - music that's cool to pubescent males. I thought it was a cool song when I was 13 and didn't know any better, too.

Plus Drowning Pool is about as metal as a pizza box.

Amazing choice out of the 3. I love Gojira, Brilliant band.

I do agree that Bodies is massively overplayed in AMV's and such. I even saw it in a video of someone playing Assassins Creed 1, it just didn't fit the video at ALL.

I've barely ever even heard this.

It's alright but too boring. Rather dulled down.
