Congratulation, it appears that you have just won the cosmic lottery. The angel appears before you one summer morning with the most amazing prize: immortality. Eternal life, eternal youth and vigor. No wound or illness or other cruelty of man or the universe would be able to deal you any lasting harm. Like a demigod, forever and ever and ever. No tricks, no catches, no games, no secret tests of character. You don't sell your soul or anything like it. Just a gift. A cool gift, because the universe is just cool like that.
Take your time to think. You can refuse the prize, if you want. But if you do so, then that's it. The opportunity won't present itself again. It's now or never: just shake the angel's hand and immortality is yours.
Hell of a deal.(or is it?)

If I had a power or vampyric abilities, then yes it would be ok. If I was forced to be a crappy human for eternity, then god no

Had to do it, sorry.

OT: I would live to see how the human race progresses, I am often depressed by the prospect of not being around long enough to see us advance into the cosmos.

EDIT: GOD DAMN NINJAS!

Now that that's out of the way, no. I don't want to live forever.

Living for a long time and having the people I care about living for an equal amount f time is much better.

It would eventually get boring. Plus, it might be difficult to identify with people knowing that you will have to watch everyone you know eventually die of old age or something.

I would, then I could be a super hero... it would ROCK! :D

Maybe start my own super group of well trained individuals and intelligent people... get famous, get overconfident and superficial, get a drinking problem and fall off the rails BUT THEN tragedy strikes forcing me to get back on the rails and back to being an awesome super hero... Awesome.

It would be nice, but acceptance to death is what makes us who we are.

We're probably not scared of dying. It's just when.

I would if I could choose to end my life when I wanted. I mean eternal life sounds freekin awesome but it may turn into a curse. It also depends if there is anything in the afterlife, if not then screw dying - Im gonna live forever and maybe just maybe, an amazing game to movie adaptation will be made.

Plus I wanna own a fully functioning suit of power armour and go all God Emporer on the universe. In fact that's a thought, I may just become the Emporer of Mankind. I still have a few 1000 years to come up genetic technology to create space marines. I may see if I can create the 40k universe.

Humanity dies out sooner or later, stuck on a barren rock for billions of years. Solar flare comes and destroys the planet, pulls you into the core of the star where you burn for even longer.

Star dies and becomes a black hole, trapped inside a crushing gravity well for however long a black hole lasts. After that it's just waiting until entropy overtakes the Universe and leaves you immobile for eternity.

I'll pass, thanks.

I couldn't stand eternity. Way too boring.
Pretty much what I was going to say. Had this asked of me once and when I said life would be boring it just didn't seem to compute. The whole point to me of having a finite existence is so that at times I can be urged in to doing things deemed risky or exciting because I've only got this life and it's all about experiencing as much as possible in the time I've got.

No... Cause (and I know this will sound strange to some of you) I CARE about people and I get SAD when people I care about go away or die. And I get like really sad, I'm an overemotional being. So having to live with every single person I've ever known just dying and me going on, making new friends and see them die too? No thanks!

A doctor estimated me living to the age of 60 and I have no problem with that. I don't want to be old, and it's too painful when people I know die. They don't feel so strongly about it, so they'll do fine when I go =3

What kind of philosophical answer is no, it would have no meaning.
The Shakespeare inside: well of course if there is no threat of the cold embrace of death then you shall cherish no moment and live as if nothing mattered. How could you continue as such a wretch. Woe you would be the equivalent of a soulless ghoul living as his immortality pleasure but never knowing true pleasure
fin

Honestly the above described immortality sounds cool but after awhile i would get tired of being alive, but thats because yeah life would throw shit in your face for infinity. What happens when the earth ends do you just float in space with your organs imploding on themselves and gasping for air? Now that sounds like hell.

First, I'd like to thank the Queen fans for that. That was perfect.

Second, I'd like to say that living in the manner of Hob Gadling (a character from The Sandman comics) would be pretty cool. Hob realized way back when that the trick to living forever was not dying, and so he didn't...and still hasn't, if I'm of any judge. Granted, this required Death to literally pass him over because she and Dream were quite amused by the man, but the point is that Hob can quit living any time he wants to, only I doubt he will for a loooong time. I'd like that.

I'd hate to live forever. Having to watch my friends and family grow old and die, being alone, watching humanity make the same mistalkes untill it eventually destroys itself, having to live through the end of humanity, not really being human anymore with the lack of being mortal... you get the point.
