I have a Victorian-style brass skeleton watch, no batteries in sight. Plus, I like the sound it makes.

watches are awesome, and it isn't hard to get a good one. I was wearing a watch that used LED lights to display the time for the last 2 years (since the strap broke) and now am wearing an analogue/digital crossover.

I'm not spending $300+ on a fancy "smart" phone (as cool as they are) that I don't need. I always wear a wrist watch (except when sleeping or showering of course). Hard to misplace, forget to plug in, batteries last years, works after dropping it in the toilet (I know several people who have lost multiple Blackberries that way) and indeed most other places you tend to drop things, keeps the time, has 3 alarms, hard to steal, highly portable, no cords. its also much easier to check quickly when gaming (especially FPS games or Blur). Also much better for traveling as it is easier to replace if you do somehow lose it and harder to have stolen. And much, much more sand and dirt resistant (iPods and iPhones aren't).

I've never liked wrist watches... This is gonna make me sound like a total pansy, but they always chafe my wrist.

I do. Considering I don't own a mobile phone, it's my only way to tell the time.

And I must be able to tell the time at all times. It's a quirk.

I'm a teacher. I've got to know how much time I've got for any particular class (and I'm usually with my back to the wall clock). And I don't allow my students getting their cell phones out, so I can't either -not that I would do it anyway, it looks way unprofessional.

Well, they're required at my work anyhow. You wear a watch or you get written up. For that matter...I'd rather wear a watch than carry a cell phone. Sometimes? I DON'T want to be accessible.
Exactly. Not that many people actually call me, but I do like to be without my phone at times.

Nope. Found that they ALWAYS got in the way.

When I did wear it though I wore it the PROPER WAY. On the RIght Wrist with the face of the watch UPWARDS. None of this Upside down bullcrap.
Actually, that is somewhat incorrect. Technically, the proper way to wear a wristwatch is the face upwards on the wrist of your non-dominant hand. So, as a left handed person, when I wear a wristwatch the "proper" wrist is on the right wrist, but right handed people should wear their watches on the left wrist.

Here is GQ backing me up on this: http://www.gq.com/style/style-guy/accessories/200102/wrist-watch
Nope. Sorry mate but I do things the way it makes sense. Style means squat. You use it ON your dominant side....which for me on the RIGHT HANDED side.

Last time I used one, was during military service. Wrist watch was something you practically had to have.
Yeah, the habit started then and still hasn't died. It might eventually though.

I wear a watch, convienient and looks great. People often wonder how much it costs, as it looks pretty fancy. Its actually only $15 off ebay.
