Does anyone else think of Pulp Fiction anytime someone mentions that their Grandfather gave them a watch, or is it just me?

I assums it was a wrist watch? How would someone try and steal something strapped to your wrist?

Unless your phone is hanging from your neck or is at all times in your hand, then yes, a wristwatch is out of place. At all other times, it takes you 0.2 seconds to start reading time from a watch and upwards of 1 full second for a phone, which may or may not also include awkward fumbling through pockets.

Since i'm the only one in my group of friends that wears a watch, i'm offically the "time guy"

I get asked the time at least 15 times whenever we go out.

And i really want a watch on a chain... Just to ramp up the English awesome metre

I tend to wear one at work since that means that One)I don't have to struggle getting my phone out of my pocket whenever I want to check how much time I've got left to get the venue ready before doors open, and two) I don't have to have my phone in my pocket so I can rest stupid heavy flightcases on my upper thighs without worrying about the phone in my pocket getting broken.

I wear one, a watch is an absolute essential in the field, phones tend to be too bulky and too unreliable

I worked at a pizza place, we got robbed, if the cops did not come sooner, I would be minus one watch.

I do wear a watch but I usually take it off because of school situations where I can not wear any metal.
I do love watches though.

I wear the Pokemon 10th Anniversary watch from Fossil every day. It's hard as heck sometimes to read but it's still a bad ass watch.

If you have to work in a representative position, you wear a wristwatch, because it doesnt look classy enough to check the time on your mobile phone. Except you are me, then you got an awesome engraved silver pocketwatch.

I admit I don't exactly wear watches alot when Mobile Phones became popular. I used to have quite a few (I keep getting new ones since I break the strap easily) during high school. Once I got my own Mobile Phone I use that to look at the time and stop buying watches until a few months ago.
I was on a work experiences at a retail shop and once of employee rule is no mobile phone. This pretty much make me buy a new watch since god know when (the only clock is in the back room but you lose track of time very easily). So I pretty much bought a cheap watch and wear it during work experience. Well that over but I sometime wear it when I don't want to get my mobile out of my pocket.
I suppose I will say this, watches are still handy when mobile phones can't be use in any way or form. I guess we shouldn't rely on our mobile phones too much for looking at the time.

I wear mine purely for style, like with suits and stuff. There's usually a wall clock or table clock wherever I am, and if not I use my phone.

Nope. Found that they ALWAYS got in the way.

When I did wear it though I wore it the PROPER WAY. On the RIght Wrist with the face of the watch UPWARDS. None of this Upside down bullcrap.
Actually, that is somewhat incorrect. Technically, the proper way to wear a wristwatch is the face upwards on the wrist of your non-dominant hand. So, as a left handed person, when I wear a wristwatch the "proper" wrist is on the right wrist, but right handed people should wear their watches on the left wrist.

Here is GQ backing me up on this: http://www.gq.com/style/style-guy/accessories/200102/wrist-watch
Nope. Sorry mate but I do things the way it makes sense. Style means squat. You use it ON your dominant side....which for me on the RIGHT HANDED side.
Wearing it on your non-dominant side actually does have a purpose beyond style. Wearing your watch on your non-dominant hand means a) you get to wind it with your dominant hand, and b) you are less likely to scratch your watch when doing things.

Now, I don't care where you wear your watch, however, technically you aren't wearing it the PROPER WAY--as you so emphatically and judgmentally insisted in your original post.

are you one of those hipsters that only carry a phone around as your time keeper? what a tool.

Wristwatches don't have to be charged everyday and are way more convenient than any phone.
