People who get fancy ones? I never really wore them, always bothered my wrist. I don't really wear any jewlery, armbands, or anything of that nature.

I always do, it's much easier that showing my phone off to everybody, and it always has battery. Not to mention that it produces less light when you want to check it in the dark, and is a necessary item for army.

In short: I always do, I don't know anyone who doesn't.

for alot of people Wrist watches basically died out around 2000, when everyone already had cell phones.

Last time I used one, was during military service. Wrist watch was something you practically had to have.

Absolutely nothing wrong with them. I'd wear one sometimes, if I had one really proper.
Fixed it for you.

I wear my watch every day, all the time. Everyone that I go to uni with wears one, one guy wears two (he likes both of them).

Also, everyone I knew where I use to live wore them, alot of them were dive masters/instructors/worked on boats (lived next to Great Barrier Reef) so they needed a waterproof time piece that was always with them and didn't take up their hands. Like, say a wrist watch.

For clarification on the "old people are the only ones", I'm 20.

I've always worn watches. I hate being late for things and the excuse 'sorry I didn't have a watch on me' is something I never wish to utter (oh the shame!).

I don't always have my phone on me to tell the time and actually where as a quick sneak at your watch to check the time in a meeting or lecture is subtle and un-noticeable, getting out a telephone and checking the time just comes off as rude (and before the comment is made, sometimes you need to just know the time even if your not bored).

Some people claim to feel naked without their makup or jewellary on, for me without my watch I'm lost.

(Plus my current one is rather nice to look at too).

I've wore a watch pretty much every day since I've been old enough to tell the time. =3 And analogue all the way, they look a lot better than a digital one. Digital always struck me as what you give a child who's too lazy to tell the time properly.

That said, a pocket-watch would be pretty cool.

I actually preferred my old wrist watch to my cell phone. My cell phone can often be jammed under my wallet, or in my coat pocket, over the back of my chair. It sounds like trivial little things, but as opposed to the ability to just look at my wrist and have it be right there, it gets annoying. Plus, I'm often in dark rooms for lectures, wherein I don't want to be lit up like a beacon just for checking the time. I'm a digital painter, so a lot of what I learn to do is time saving techniques that allow me to do the most in the fewest strokes and button presses, it's a similar logic to this. Rather than dragging my phone out of my pocket and hitting the middle button to light it up and check the time, I can look at a device conveniently already attached to my wrist and easily read the time.

There is also an association of watches with status. In the case of someone like me, who has a cheap Swatch, little status is implied, but there is something to be said about a man in a Rolex... mostly that he can afford a Rolex.
This. My dad's watch is worth about 5 times what my car was purchased for.

I don't because I find them uncomfortable. But I wouldn't mind a pocket watch as my phone is pretty much that. Actually, it'd be cool to get a small gold chain for it, like a pocket watch. :D

Bought mine a month ago. Black Steel Casio Cronograph. And I am only 21.

Hence, your conclusion about old people and watches is hollow.

People who want to look important or to show off their multi-thousand-dollar-epic-scheit-watches. All else have moved in to owning a phone that has a digital one.

I use one all the time (no pun intended).
It's practical and much faster to look at than hauling up your cell and checking the display.

I'll wear one as an accessory (dress up nice, throw on nice watch), but I use my phone for my time-telling needs.

I wear a wrist watch constantly. I can check the time in somewhere close to a quarter of a second, and I like keeping track of the time. Its much easier then flipping open my phone, plus, I am guaranteed to have an alarm with me, and a timer. If I have removed my watch for some reason, I catch myself checking the time without even realizing it.

I always wear a wrist watch, and not a digital one either. I wear a nice watch one with a skeletal frame I believed it is called. I think wrist watches are better have than always having to check your cell phone all the time.

I have been wearing an old analog Automatic Seiko for years. I love the style and it is one of the ones that is charged by movement so the only maintenance I have to do on the thing is tweak the time if I am off.

I personally cannot stand people who use their cell phones, I can't tell you how many times I have been talking to someone and they start rummaging around in their bag looking for their cell phone just to see the time. I think it is impractical but oh well, to each their own, right?

Doctors and nurses wear watches.
Actually, no. They're not allowed to wear them. Watches and other kinds of "jewellery" (any ornaments for personal adornment, as necklaces, earrings, watches or cuff links, including those of base metals, glass, plastic, or similar) isn't allowed since they promote bacteria growth. Nurses and doctors thus needs to have their watch in their pockets or buy one of them timers you can clip on to your chest-pocket. Hell, even wedding rings must be taken off if you're a doctor, nurse or similar.

Anyhow, on topic. I do wear one whenever I'm not at home or at the school working on clinical or radiological procedures.
