No one, absolutely no one. Keeping a secret like that becomes exponentially more difficult the more people become involved.

In point of fact, if I chose to use "superpowers" in anything resembling a public manner, my first move would be to cut ties with everyone I know and bury my past as hard and as deep as I can manage.
I'ma go agree with this guy... though perhaps with different justifications.

When one has superpowers, some general laws of 'being' sort of apply.

1 - I'm never the only one with powers.
2 - Regardless of how powerful I am, there is always someone, somewhere more powerful than me.
3 - Whatever my intentions may be, some jackass out there will want to dissect me.
4 - However much I know about my powers, there is always someone, somewhere able to prove I know nothing about them.
5 - Regardless of what my powers are capable of, there is always someone, somewhere capable of neutralising them.
6 - Were I to display my powers, for all I may be supported, I will not be understood. If I am not understood, I am not human. If I am not human, I am beneath the laws of man and may be killed with impunity.

Depends on what my powers would entail. If I had powers equivalent to superman I'd probably skip the costume and start conquering. If I was more along the lines of batman I'd likely either keep it to myself or recruit a friend and tell him.

It depends on the kind of powers. And what kind of implications it had. If it meant I had weaknesses I might need help with, I'd might tell my family.

I'd probably tell my best friend, since I tell him most of important stuff.

Unless it meant they might be in danger. Although that might be the reason to tell them...

Close friends and family, of which that would be total people.

It's kind of stupid to expect them not to find out eventually, so why insult their intelligence and try to hide it?

No. That would be foolish. Don't need the masses to worry their little heads about such things. All they need to do is worship their new divine ruler (who is obviously not me) and everything will be perfectly fine.

There is not a single person I would trust with the secret. Even if I did, I'm too paranoid to tell someone.

Just my family. Id have no problem telling them since I really do trust them all and know they wouldn't run around telling people. There are only a couple of friends I trust as much but I dont think Id tell them.

EDIT: When I say family I mean close family - not cousins or anything like that.

My close friends, so that they could tell me to tone down the awesome if it gets a little too obvious.

In this age of social networking and "must share ever goddamn piece of info that passes me by" mentality? I wouldn't tell anyone unless I knew I could trust them not to spread the news.

If it's just one or two powers and I can still die easily then I'd probably keep it secret from everyone. However, if I was a superman level of overpowered, then Troy Barnes sums up my thoughts.

Absolutely nobody. Not only could it get them hurt and killed but it could come back on me. If people in the superhero world were even slightly like they are in this one then it would be all over the internet before the sentence had even left your lips.

Not a single damn soul. Been betrayed by close friends too many times to really trust another person anymore. Probably wouldn't use the powers much anyway. Either they're not that great or they'll easily get attention (ie flying). I'd rather nobody found out regardless of whether or not they know me.

Well, yeah. If you're going with a name like that, you're making it too easy. For that matter, why even have a Superhero name? It's easier to get away with if you let the people who spot you try to name you themselves. They'll probably never agree on a description or single name. Giving yourself a name just makes you an easier target. Downside, ofcourse, you could get stuck with a name like "Super Twat", if people don't like your heroic activities.

I'd fake my own death in the attempt to avoid having to work for a government. Then I can be Batman. Sort of.

Captcha: I want control.

So do I. So do I.
