Abstinence. It may be the most effective birth control, but lots of lies are spread and it demonizes sex as teh evils. As for the latter option, I'm personally an advocate of sexual openness and freedom and not treating it as such a horrible, shameful thing. Just be responsible and use at least 2 methods of birth control, preferably one of them a condom. Honestly, I was surprised with how even the polls were.

And one delicious bit of irony I've noticed: A lot of abstinence supporters who say abstinence is the only 100% effective form of birth control are also firm Christians who believe in the virgin birth of Christ. So even if you don't have sex, you can still get pregnant.

European countries with comprehensive sex ed programs (as opposed to abstinence only programs) have much lower rates of STD transmission and teen pregnancy. This trend is also true within America, Red states (which tend to have more abstinance only programs) have a higher rate of teen pregnancy and STD transmission than Blue states (which tend more towards comprehensive programs).

EDIT: However, the African continent, where there are hardly any conrtacepties at all, has even higher rates of STD transmission and teen pregnancy than America. Note here that the pope has done a lot of work trying to spread an abstinance only message in Africa, and that African children are often told blatant lies about bad things that will happen to them if they use contraceptives.

You are ignorant in my eyes!

How would that change views?

And when is the correct time to use the word 'Whom' instead of 'Who'?

You're kidding right? STD's are part of our world's culture- they wouldn't be called VENEREAL diseases if they weren't around Europe long enough to get a name attributed to a roman deity. The idea that someone would think that std's are only in America just blows my mind.
Already said this once, but I'll make sure you hear too. I think the most ignorant thing is when people say abortion is evil inhumane.

I don't want to be mean or anything, but really now! Our planet does not need any more people than it has now!
Oh good. So we should just start killing people off? After you, buddy.
Way to miss the point. Some people need to stay alive to preach the message not to make TOO MANY more people. He isn't calling for mass extinctions hes asking for moderation of population growth. Those that want to lower the pop should go last to make sure the others go first lol.
Thank you. I previously tried to explain it, but I was under personal stress from other things, and I think I missed the important point.

Oh, and also... Marriage has NEVER meant love, anywhere or anytime. Throughout the history, marriage was more of a business transaction then a love thing. Seriously.
Sometimes it might mean this emotion you humans call "love," but for the most part you're right. Most people need to marry to afford housing and cars, among other things, and a lot of people marry for the money or to make headlines in the case of celebrities. Oh, and shotgun weddings, can't forget those.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Abortion is not murder, and I have never implied that it was. Unless you're an evangelical religious zealot, you would know that the planet is under heavy stress from the population.
Abortion is not murder, it's only a way of preventing the unnecessary excess use of our resources.
The planet is under heavy stress...

Is that why Russia has a density of 20 people per square mile, and Australia has a density of 7/ square mile, the US has 80/sq mile... I love how one can no longer disagree with each other without being called names. Our problem is not too many people, it's too many people concentrated in small locations. Take the central eastern portion of China, which is ridiculously overcrowded.

Abortion is killing, at least, as perhaps you could argue that the fetus is not human, though that gets really shaky, (i.e. at what point does it become a human), but it is still killing. It may be killing something with a good end in mind, but the fetus is a living thing that you are destroying merely because it is inconvenient, in most cases. If the mother's life is in danger, or in certain other cases, fine, it may be unavoidable. Otherwise... yeah.

And hell yes it's inhumane. They suck the kid's brains out, and cut him to pieces, for crying out loud. If there is the least chance that he can feel that, don't you think we should do something about it?

Read my quote - I heard- I'm just amazed someone would think that STD's are just an american thing - what kind of bias is that?
I'm pretty sure he wasn't saying they were just an American thing. Hence the "are there as many" as opposed to "are there any".

I don't think people who support premarital abstinence are ignorant. Even without the religious factor, something like that is based on an individuals morality. The ignorant ones are the people who preach abstinence education.

Again, after you. You want to not have kids, because you think Mother Earth is getting a bit too crowded, go ahead. We'll be more than glad to have you out of the pool, as it were.

Just think about what you are suggesting. Something like what China has? How exactly do you plan to enforce this "population control?"

I hear you. I've been through some abstinence-only sex education, and it was a joke. It just taught some anatomy and STD's, and of course the standard morality stuff about living with your family (What the hell does that have to do with sex?) and interpersonal relationships. The coach teaching it knew it was BS and said that they could not teach about sex itself or protection, aka what sex ed is about teaching.

I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just voicing my opinion that humans are terrible at resource management. In fact, now that I think about it, I agree with your statement that a population crisis isn't the right choice of words.

Also, my view on abortion is just my opinion. I'm not insulting yours, I'm just explaining why I feel this way.

And why is it that abstinence before marriage is moral? If you judge morality as "what relieves the most suffering, and causes the most happiness" then your pretentions to abstinence before marriage being moral are moot. Responsible sex outside of marriage can increase a couples happiness. The only reason people think that waiting until being married is moral is because of an old book.
