I think Craig has done the best Bond so far, but Connery is a classic. I voted for Craig because I feel he's done Bond the best, but Connery is my second vote.

As much as I liked Brosnans Bond movies, I didn't like him as Bond.

Well, the majority is going to go with Connery, just because he is held in regard like Chuck Norris. It seems that a lot of people are like "Zomg! Connery is so awesome etc." and the only reason is all of their hipster friends on the Internet say so.

I'd have to go with Moore for my personal favorite. He fits the image almost as well as Brosnan did, and he was a better actor by leaps and bounds.

Damn, the OP summed it up for me: Pierce was my image of Bond until I went back and watched some of the older movies, and Connery was just damn amazing in them. Goldfinger and From Russia with Love to be specific...

Great stuff.

And at the time he had a very decent English look to him.

Connery, Craig a close second.

Connery's definitive Bond. Craig does a very good job showing the early, still rough, ex-sniper Bond.

Brosnan was a goddamn fop.

My list:

Connery
Craig
Brosnan
Moore
Daltin
Lazenby

And thats the way it is.
Roger Moore after Brosnan, good sir have the decency not to blaspheme in the presence of a god fearing american (Though I am not god fearing nor american and come to think of it you aren't really in my presence or I yours, my point still stands! It is my belief that is a good point, watch octopussy or something then make up your mind... Brosnan smoshdan)

My List is a little something like this

Connery
Moore
Craig

And whats this about America being unable to accept a British Bond, Bond is a British spy for her majesty's sake!

I prefer Timothy Dalton. His two movies had one of the best Bonds (the Living Daylights) and one of the worst (Licence to Kill), just like Daniel Craig. I loved Casino Royale, but hated Quontem of Solace. But Dalton is my favourite James Bond 'Actor', Mr Connery doesn't count as he isn't a James Bond Actor, he is James Bond.

Also what do you mean America being unable to accept a British Bond? Mr Moore and Mr Dalton where British as well.

In exception for George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton, Bond has always been perfect to his era. Sean Connery fit the bill for the older movies, while Moore fit his era, Timothy Dalton sucked so I'll discount him, Pierce Brosnan was absolutely perfect for the 90s- early 00's, and now Daniel Craig is a perfect modern Bond.

My answer, therefore, is none.
Wow. I never really thought about it that way, but I've gotta say, I think I agree with you.

Im a massive bond fan having collected every movie but I still believe Roger Moore is the best bond with Sean Connery a close second.

George Lazenby was horrible, he only appeared in one movie then they begged for Sean Connery back for Diamond are forever. Also he said he wouldnt act as James Bond unless Bond got married, hence why he marries in that movie. But the directors then added a scene where the wife dies with a george lazenby look-a-like. Haha.

Timothy Dalton was good but his movies, The Living Daylights and License to Kill, are the most brutal bond movies which doesnt really focus on the storyline and subtlety Bond films use. This is also why I dont like Daniel Craig as a bond actor.

Pierce Brosnan was a horrible bond but his movies are some of the best. Also he hated playing Bond so screw him.

I agree that all Bonds have been pretty relative of their era.

However, I like the portrayal of Bond that underneath the suave, sophisticated exterior is a sadistic thug who will stop at nothing to get the job done. Connery caught this best, and Craig is running in second place, although he needs a few more movies to be really established. Brosnan got a bit of this, but he was a bit too smooth, and lacked enough of a sense of brutality. Dalton's Bond was too emo, and Lazenby wasn't on the job for long enough. Moore's Bond was a jokey lightweight. It's not all his fault, as the Bond franchise had become pretty stale and lazy by then, the films were overblown and pretty weak.

I can't quite decide Connery was just awesome, but Craig is a blonde, ass kicking, ball whipping Bond.

I like Craig and Brosnan (he was the Bond that got me into Bond so I may be a bit biased), but Connery is the Bond. Every Bond follows the setup of HIS Bond, they all are just following in his footsteps. Hell when you specifically copy out of one movie into another (The honey rider scene from Doctor No, put into Die Another Day I believe for those who don't know) you know who the best is.

Edit: Dear god I hope to never use the word bond that many times again.

Daniel Craig. I like the more action oriented route they have taken with the newer Bond films. Most of the older ones felt like they were dragging on for me.
You call Casino Royale "action-oriented"?
It is for me. I'm not a big fan of action movies, they're usually done very poorly in my opinion. Also I just consider this to be more action oriented than the older ones. The Pierce Brosnan films had a good bit of action, but they were trash.

I'd say Pierce Brosnan just because for me he epitomizes the essence of what Bond is. Plus he was probably the more entertaining of the Bonds and starred in some awesome movies :)
