George Carlin was more important. He pushed the envelope of what you can say on t.v. and he brought up a lot of political issues. Wereas Micheal Jackson was just some weird looking pedophile I.M.O. who shouldn't have gotten so much attention.
Did you see him when he was black? Do you really think he was a pedophile, or is that the only thing you've heard about him? I'm 15 and I know there was no definitive proof that he even touched any of those kids, the reason he loved children so much is because he never got to be one himself. George Carlin was a great comedian, don't get me wrong, but Micheal's music will always be played opposed to people who didn't like George Carlin's ideals or his "seven words you can't say on T.V." or something of that nature.
Yes I seen him when he was black, and yes I think that he was a pedophile. The only reason that people could not prove it was that he paid an extraordinate amount of money to the parents of those kids. Also even when he was black I thought he was an over-rated singer that should not have had the imense following that he did. You miserable prick.
No, they couldn't prove it because it didn't happen. Maybe reason you think that he was over-rated is because you're one of those people who think that just because so many people like him that you can't, I don't know, and was calling me a prick necessary, prick?

This. Billy Mays was pure awesome, and he left too soon.
I agree...never knew the other ones well. My commercials in video class were based on him :(
What really sucks is that the show he did just before he died talked about how much time he had to give up with his family so that he could make enough money for them to live on. He became a self made man at 40.

Something I don't thing Jackson or Carlin could ever compete with.

Yeah, MJ was a part-time legend but Billy Mays was a full-time legend. (as stupid as this sounds)

Where the hell is the Billy Mays option?!
I love all these people posting in threads they don't even bother to read. Perhaps I shall edit the OP to contain everything so people can continue to be lazy. Maybe, if I wasn't so lazy...

I'd like to say George but considering this is how I found out (and it happened a year ago) I have to say Michael.

I apologise good sir. Redact my statement. I didn't mourn either of the two very much, but I shall go for MJ.

Billy Mays, he was the only sales/pitch man I trusted to have a quality product.

Wow, MJ or GC...What a hard choice. The person who owns(owned) THE single most bought/sold record(/CD/mp3/whatever) ever or possibly one of the smartest/funniest comedians ever. That's actually probably the easiest question I have ever answered, in my life. Well anyway, I'm casting my vote for George Carlin. I will sadly miss his performances in movies such as Dogma and his stand up. Michael Jackson on the other hand, I don't even know why anybody could possibly be sad. He was clinically insane, accused of child molestation on numerous accounts, and(personal mystery here) what's seriously up with the surgeries? Anyway, I am glad that someone made a thread with GC because his death was so small in comparison and I just don't understand why. I guess it's just nice to be able to talk about Carlin and have more than maybe once person actually know who I'm talking about.

I don't really give a shit about either of them, although if I hear any more about Micheal Jackson I'll probably kill someone (not really).

George Carlin, he entertained me more. I had no wish to see Jackson live. While Jackson's death came as a shock, I wasn't a fan. I am, however, a fan of George Carlin.

i never like george carlin, call me crazy but a coarse old man swearing and saying nothing particularly funny (although true) is not my idea of funny. he was a great social commentator but not very funny.

MJ, however, was, weirdly enough, my hero between the ages of 5 and 12 and remained one of my favorite artists thereafter because i accepted he was not a great man but he was irrefutably a brilliant musician. it definitely hit me harder.

Carlin.

Hell, this guy is funny as fuck, and I was able to use his book Silly Putty & Napalm to get extra credit for my english class and get said teacher in trouble at the same time. (she borrowed it and got in trouble for reading it during a meeting. )

George Carlin.

Michael Jackson's cool, but I never really liked his music that much. George Carlin, though, was my all time favorite comedian.

I saw him when he came to my town a few years ago. He was awesome!

Well I decided to edit my original post. Hopefully it will clear up a lot of the questions people keep asking.

One thing I have found amusing about this thread is how big of a gap there is between the two. With all the other threads about Jackson's death and not a single one about Carlin, I expected it to either be a lot closer or possibly ven Michael on top. Almost feel bad for voting for Carlin, but not really.
