I love cats. They're a lot more entertaining than dogs. Dogs are such stupid kiss ups. They don't follow you because they love you. They do it because they think it's their job. The moment they think they're in charge, watch out.
Cats, on the other hand, are solitary hunters. They have to be quiet and aloof. It help when you're stalking something.
And another thing: Milo & Otis is an evil, evil film. The kitten at the end of the film sure isn't the one they started with. They went through a lot of puppies and cats making that film.

I did hear about that and didn't want to believe it. Is there proof of so many cats getting killed in it?

Because dogs are loyal companions, cats are completely indifferent to people.
This depends on your cat then I suppose, I have had only one cat from when I was maybe 3 until a few years back when shet died when I was 12. That cat grew up with me, when I was young she almost saw me as its own "baby" it was completely loyal to me (and my parents they fed it and gave it water ^_^) and really when it died (of cancer ;-;) I felt my loyalty to her and her loyalty to me was extremely strong, like we would always be there for each other (No I'm not gay).

Basically, dogs will be more readily loyal to you, but if you really take time to love and take care of your cat then it will love you and only you unconditionally, which I feel is the best kind of loyalty there is.

Really though I feel it's just the animal version of console wars, people will almost always prefer one over the other, recognizing the other is good but just preferring the other one for no real reason other than they just like them more.

because dogs are very loyal creatures, cats on the other hand are often more independant in their nature. also something like a cat is never that cute without an ulterior motive.

It's okay to voice myy opinion on why cats are awesome? Nice, then I'll tell all you sweet guys 'n gals: Cats are awesome because they are so arrogant. When a cat is naughty, it's because it's evil. Whenever a dog's actions manage to elicit a "bad dog!", though, the dog is just too stupid to understand the immorality of its actions.

Granted I have nothing against dogs (I own 3 dogs and 3 cats) but I have a much lower opinion of their intelligence...
I dare ask, when was the last time you saw a seeing-eye cat?Considering dogs constantly respond consistently to words uttered by its owner while a cat just doesn't give a shit what you can tell them,I'm more inclined to think dogs can be smarter, even though the last few dogs I've seen were dumb as all hell.
Yes,I prefer dogs over cats, since you can actually interact with it when YOU see fit instead of it coming once in a while to sleep on someone's warm lap. Also,an animal that just sleeps half the day is less lively than a dog that's energized and ready to go 24/7

Cats have many more appealing features over dogs, for instance:
Apart from possibly Maine Coons, they aren't really able to kill you =P
They don't tend to shit in your house
They can come on your bed at night without squashing you to death
They all have unique personalities, a dog tends to be like, *rub, rub, shit, rub, sleep, hug leg*

Well... I find all of them more appealing than a dog...

Also, cats don't just love you for feeding them...

People thinks cats are evil? 0.o

I cant say why, maybe there are more dog lovers, and all the dog lovers run all the mainstream cat=evil media?

Those are all great features, but you're forgetting the main difference - cats don't run up to your children barking like crazy so that the children start crying while the animal's owner insists that "it's okay, she only wants to play". (No offense to all the dog owners whose dogs don't do that.)

I am not bothered by them, though a few people I know detest them as they are feral. (as in kill native animals)

We used to kill strays at the farm where I grew up. Our dog was trained to chase cats into trees and wait until someone came and shot it.
The reason?
Their usefulness in killing pests is outweighed by the fact that most cats are carriers of toxoplasmosis. One cat shitting in the animal feed can cause several thousands worth of damages. I know of people that have lost a quarter of their lambs this way.

Other than that, cat's just aint friendly critters. I'm not saying I would deliberately hurt a cat if I come across one under normal circumstances, but I'm prolly gonna grab a rifle if I see one near the barn back home.

Dogs lay next to you because they love you.
Cats lay next to you because your warm.

They're just not the best companions. Both kittens and puppies get me every time though...

Not from me. I love cats.

If you fail to connect to a cat and bond with it when its still a kitten: you fail.

Pretty much, and why not just get a dog or another animal that might acknowledge your existence for more time then it takes to feed them?
You obviously never had a cat.
This.

It might have something to do with biology??

Canines are mostly scavengers and so would remain loyal as they would have a constant source of food, and they are pack animals so the companionship of an owner may also contribute to their loyalty?

Felines are mostly predators so they wouldn't really need to show much loyalty for food as they are far more capable of catching their own food.

This could be completely wrong, but hey...

I'm definitely a cat person :)

Truthfully, I was half-joking, but you make a good point.
