Poll: Why do/did you play WoW?

My friend got me to play it, I ended up playing it longer than him and I'm being dragged back to it D:

I was taking a break from Guild Wars and wanted to see what all the fuss is about.
I stopped after 5 hours.

i played it for a year until i came to a realization wow was like a job you have to pay for, else the story and stuff and if it was free i would consider playing it ever agian

It all started with my friends brother playing it, and so my friend told us stories about it which sounded pretty fun, then my friends started playing it. Luckily I didn't have any money so I didn't pay for the full game instead just got the trial. Which, of course, decapitated and pissed on the corpse of my social life, so after the trial I never played again.

I started playing because I took a college course in which we were required to make a WoW account and get to level 20. I'm totally serious.

Best class EVER.

Last summer I got very bored (live in the middle of nowhere when not at uni) and decided that I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I hit 80 with a Ret Pally dwarf in 6 weeks or so, realised that the REAL grind started then, and went and did other stuff.

Then after the like 10th naxx run i like... this suxx.

Well, Naxx does suck.
It's just a recycled raid and a step-ladder to the 'actual' raid content.
Although Ulduar sucks too.
ToC is pretty good, and ICC is a proper, good raid.

ICC is even pretty damn hard.
Only one guild in the world has actually downed the Lich King on heroic 25 man yet.
It's so hard people are complaining that it's too hard.
Irony, eh?

I have 3 80's: one geared for ICC, the others in Ulduar crap, as well as an assortment of lvl 60-80 guys, but just the other day i had an epiphany, it was kind of complicated but in short i realized "i hate the people in this game and dont want to play with them"
With gear score and shit everyone has gotten way to damn elitist, which is especially annoying coming from people who fail at the game but get by because of all the free epics.

I like online games so I tried the trial liked that then carried on playing then realised that it was really bad after a few days and went back to playing EVE online.

Used to play it a lot but over the past 2 weeks ive only logged on for the best part of 10 mins maybe.

Brother played it. I gave it a go, making a dwarf hunter, got it to level 11/12. Got bored with it, then got re-interested when I needed to sub for my brother when he was ill. Played for a few years, then quit a few years ago (after WotLK had released, and I had quested to 80. Couldn't be arsed to raid)

I wanted to see what it was like, I played it for a month straight. Probably the least fun I've had with any game, just relentless tedium through and through. I concurred that I wasn't missing much and never touched it again.

And to all those people who say "WoW doesn't start till level ##", I don't have that kind of time, and neither should you!

That's exactly what happened to me. I got to 71 but it had got really old by then, and I was questing alone because my friend said it was quicker. He kept telling me it doesn't start til 80 aswell.

Ex-gf played Alpha and begged and begged me to play tho I had no interest, was GMing one game and spending free time playing CoH.

I broke down a couple of months into release and have been playing ever since (despite a break here and there).

After I bought a month and gave it more than it's fair share of my life the reply I got after saying "Right, now I've played it I can safely say to you that it IS bad" the respose to that was "You only got to level 24 you need to get to at least level 80 before it gets fun" That won me my argument.

After WC3 the WoW beta came out... since then I've played it on and off like visiting a distant relative, but I've never been properly addicted (come to think of it I don't think I ever had a character above level 50).

It was actually fun. That is, until you reached level 45. Then it was a tour through Snooze-ville.

It happened when one of my friends quit WoW'ing, then I got his account and an unused Game Card from him. Tried for those two months, then quit. It was boring.

Hmm... I guess the main reason I became interested in WoW was because I like Blizzard games in general. I played for, hmmm, some 3 years before I quit about half a year ago. It only started getting dull around the time most of my friends had stopped playing.

I might go back sometime, though, but as it is now, I have no interest in doing so.

It was fun while it lasted. *shrug*
