Well it is only the minority who do it, but it is annoying nonetheless. Modding however is cool.

For funsies? And because if they can, why not? They're probably the game devs of the future anyway.

Some people do it for fun. Others do it because they suck and have to use an unfair advantage to win.

It can be fun.
Like when you shut down other people's computers while they're doing a test.
The best part is shutting down the teacher's PC.
Their first reaction is always to turn the computer on and off until it works again.
Sometimes they even hit it.

The way I see it, there's two kinds of hackers in (multiplayer) games.

First, there's the people who make the hacks. More often than not, they just do it because they can. They want to show off their 'sk1llz' by creating an aimbot or save editor whatever.

Then, there are the people who use the hacks. They just suck at the game and need an unfair advantage to be competitive, because their puny e-penis will shrivel up and fall off if they'd lose a match.

In singleplayer games though, everything is fair game. There's nothing wrong with cheating or hacking in a singleplayer game, because even if you are ruining the whole thing, you're still only ruining it for yourself.

im always careful with hacking, overdo it and you trash the whole game, ive vowed to NEVER cheat on a pokemon game (except to unlock events) but on games like legend of zelda spirit track, "ive got better things to be doing than watching a train potter across the countryside for hours on end!" hence, super fast train cheat! and the moon jump cheat on mario 64 + unlimited wing cap cheat = FUN!

People hack for personal reasons. No one can say why "all Gamers" hack, because some do it for fun, some do it for curiosity, others for hate or spite.

I hack because I feel that some challenges appeal to me, and some do not. I don't feel I should be limited in my enjoyment of a game by what some other person thought was a good ideal.

Mining in Mass Effect 2. Weight in Fallout3/Oblivion. 3.Games that only let you get the good powers at the end of the game. Fark that. I want them from the beginning.

The users of hacks usually do it for the same reasons griefers do what they do. To annoy others. There is a small group that does it because they want that high score.

The people creating the hacks create them for the same reason people crack the copy protection on games. Well, the game hackers actually make money off of it, but the general idea is the same, being the first and best.

EDIT: Modding Borderlands was fuckign awesome. I found creating a 5000 damage, unlimited ammo, fully automatic magnums or a single-shot instakill-on-everything sniper more fun than actually playing the game.

They hold the achievements of gaming as a replacement to actual success...which they have none of in their real life I assume. Funny. If someone is hacking I just get them booted, don't need that crap.

Actually, I used to run a hacker clan for Counter-Strike back in the day - and we used to play ONLY on hacker servers. The idea was to tweak your aim vectors and wall hacks until placement strategy was the only thing that could stop you... then get good at being in the right places to gun each other down. lol. It was strictly for fun, and we didn't play regular servers or against non-hackers... unless some dick came to our servers, which announced in the MOTD plainly that they were hack servers, and then complained about hacking. Then we would pwn them severely...

As far as I can see, it totally defeats the point of the game. I can't find any fun in winning through cheating; so I say they must just be completely wank at the game, and its all they can get out of it. Though they are all just a bunch of fucking pricks as far as I care.

Well, they migth do it for fun, or simply because they can, however, many of them just do it because they canot deal with defeat.

I MOD my games. the 360 version of TF2 is a game that swiftly comes to mind. Most of the people who play play on modded servers with gravity hacks and Critical Hits on all the time. It's fun.

Hacking on the other hand is just fucking obnoxious and stupid. I remember quitting Mario Kart DS because quite a lot of players had infinite pickups at the touch of a button.

Depends on the hacker, really. Some do it because they can't stand loosing, others do it because they like doing things with the system that others can't. Me, I wouldn't do it to cheat, but if I could (and knew I wouldn't be banned), I'd hack to make the character I play more unique. It'd mostly be modding appearance.
