But everybody that puts themselves under the "Brony" banner are outspoken. If they were normal about their interest then they wouldn't have to consider themselves "bronies", they could just talk about the show and not flaunt it everywhere.

So yes, I hate all Bronies BUT I don't hate the fans.
Well... I guess you have some kind of a reason, even if I think it's a stupid one myself. I consider myself a Brony, yet I don't talk about it except when it's relevant (such as in this thread). You can hate whoever you want, but I think you're a bit of an idiot for it myself. Of course you hate me, so you probably care what I think about you just about as much as I care what you think about me (i.e. not very much).

loving community? that really rubs me the wrong way, how can an internet community for a cartoon be "loving". i'm sorry mate but you seem a teeny bit too embroiled to me.
You know, a while ago there was a big thing where bronies started being banned from 4chan, and then they went and made their own version of 4chan specifically for bronies.

It is scary how loving they are on that imageboard, I once looked at it and it actually creeped me out. It was like some weird mirror image of 4chan, where everyone is nice and people share issues and receive encouragement from each other...

NEVER AGAIN will I go on that site.

by a few trollish idiots.
So let me get this straight... people that have problems with Bronies are trollish idiots?
Usually yes. Hating someone because they like a TV show is something I consider trollish behaviour, either that or they're just extremely ignorant and actually believe that judging people based on their choice in entertainment is entirely reasonable.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who hate specific bronies, but hating anyone who watches a certain TV show is ridiculous.
I hate outspoken Bronies that can't keep their interest in one place (which accounts for like 80% of them). Am I trollish idiot?
Well, for a start you're wrong, I am absolutely certain that that does not account for 80% of bronies.

But anyway, yes, you are a trollish idiot (or ignorant) if you use that made up statistic as an excuse to hate anyone who watches My Little Pony.

If you hate only the "outspoken Bronies that can't keep their interest in one place", then that's fair enough. If you hate all bronies, then yeah, idiot.
But everybody that puts themselves under the "Brony" banner are outspoken. If they were normal about their interest then they wouldn't have to consider themselves "bronies", they could just talk about the show and not flaunt it everywhere.

So yes, I hate all Bronies BUT I don't hate the fans.
Brony and fan of my little pony are synonymous so I really don't understand how you can hate one and not the other.
I like Nintendo but I'm not a Nintendo fanboy. But of course, those two must be synonymous with eachother and, in turn, I'm a Nintendo fanboy.
You don't seems to realise that Brony doesn't mean fanboy of my little pony. It just means someone who likes My little pony that happens to be male...
So you can't just be a fan of the series? You have to be a Brony? That seems stupid.
you can label yourself whatever you want.

Hit the nail on the head there. I also hate "Bronies" (I feel dumb just using the word...) but I certainly don't hate fans, especially since I am one.

I don't understand the obsession, nor has any fan adequately explained it to me.
I'll give it a go then.

Out of a lot of TV shows and music I listen to, MLP:FiM is one of the few that actually seems to give a shit. I see shows like Family Guy which has a massive following, but with the laziest, most boring animation, no effort in voice acting, and countless phone-ins when they run out of ideas or jokes, that I appreciate when something is actively trying to better itself. Lauren Faust (the exec producer) said she despised previous generations of the show and wanted to redo it and strive for something great. I see that enthusiasm in every episode and I appreciate the show for what it's trying to do. They could have created another mindless turd and siphoned toy money through it, but they didn't.

That's my reason for liking it mind you, not a reason why you should enjoy the show.
So its got soul? That isn't enough reason for it to have all this fan following and brainless chatter about it.

I just don't get it.
I wanted to embolden "'my' reason for liking it mind you" for this reason. I'm not obsessed about the show but I do really like it, and that's my main reason for it. As for everyone else, I couldn't say, especially the people who are truly obsessed. I think they got caught up in the fervor of the show and can't take a step back and watch the show from an objective standpoint. I'm with you on that at least.
Aye. I like a show to be fresh and enthusiastic about itself, but...why? Why do people treat it like its the best thing ever? All I am told is its good; when I ask why the people I ask either shrug their shoulders or change the subject.

Its so frustrating because all of these people are normally smart enough yet go gaga over it. If someone asks me why Being Human is great, I'll point out the realistic characters, the superb writing and the soundtrack.
Odd...everything you justified Being Human with is the typical response with MLP, atleast from what I've seen. The characters are 100% consistent, the writing is never pandering and flows very well between the mane cast, and the songs from the show are infectious and lyrically great (see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyrAkwJ6WsY).

The people you talked to may just be in for the fad itself, which should help you filter out the more obnoxious members of the fan base. The more centered viewers should be able to list their own good reasons for watching.

Okay great, I struggle tolerating the people that label themselves as "Bronies", but I have no problems with the fans.

For a second, your wording really confused me. But now I understand.

Wall of text frightened me, what IS a brony/bronie?

Bronie, the cake, is too dry. Don't love it with a passion.

It's whatever, you have your preferences and I have mine, but good God, I thought we were done with it. For a good few months there was nothing but pony threads on this website, and it was annoying, and it left for a bit. I just don't want that happening again just because of the fact that there's too much.

Enjoy your show, I might see what the hype is about one day, but it's over saturating a lot of websites these days. I dunno, that's just me

i do find the art and some clips that are posted in the threads really good/funny, but of the show itself? i don't know. i cant make a proper opinion about becaue i never saw it. (being in europe.) but from what i saw, it looks like a solid kid show with a bit of being-aware of what your history is and i like that.

... was that a pun? I'm really not sure... If it was intended, then for shame because that was bad. If it wasn't intended then for shame on me for mentally reading it as one.

Anyway, this is pretty much the summation of what I feel about the subject. We're not hated nearly as much as I would have expected, we've really got nothing to complain about at all. The fact that people are even willing to discuss things with adults who like watching a cartoon about magical ponies is a miracle. The fact that 66.8% of people here don't hate us is far, far more than I would have ever expected from the internet.

Really we should be thankful, not annoyed.

you know something, i dont hate this weird pony obsession, however i am sick of seeing it come up constantly, not if its in a thread actually to do with it, because i can usually avoid them because they say "bronie" or something in the title, what i am sick of is you cant seem to go into a thread anymore without it coming up, and usually it holds no relevance to the actual thread.
also i do get annnoyed when i see people saying things like "you have to have watch atleast X amount of episodes or the whole season before you ca say the shows not good/whether you like it or not" its an argument i have seen far to any times and its a stupid argument

This, with an addendum... so mostly ninja'd I guess?...

OT: Spam is spam, whatever it is about. Do I despise people for liking something that gave me a wtf face for the one episode I managed to watch? No.

What I do dislike is the argument about a superfluous issue at best. Leave it be, and keep your opinions, whatever side you may be on, Silent opinions.

They're so obsessed with mentioning it all the time. It's a cartoon that people of your demographic aren't ideally meant to like, but you enjoy it... yeah, so fucking what? You're not the first adults to like a cartoon and you won't be the last, so shut the fuck up about it.

It's just not a big deal! Why you feel the need to bring it up at every possible opportunity is just baffling and that's why people don't like you 'bronies' (that's fucking retarded in and of itself). Just... watch the show. Nobody objects to you watching it, just keep it to yourself. You don't brag about what other shows you watch, so why is this any different?

Me personally? I like Phineas and Ferb and Ed, Edd n Eddy. These are not things adults are expected to like. You know why I don't get shit for liking them? Cause I don't go around broadcasting it and acting like it's some big important thing!

Ah it feels good to vent.

Hmm...maybe I'll watch an episode or two sometime. I still don't understand, but that might be because I've had no interest in it and find the hysteria annoying. Might be good just to see if I can get my bearings...
Just go in there with as little bias as possible if you ever get around to it, please? And personally, the pilot episodes aren't particularly good aside from setting up the characters.
