The 1950's feel never really attracted my attention. Don't get my wrong, I don't actively dislike it, but I also don't actively like it. I find it simply an add-on. Fallout 3 was really the first RPG game I played, with the aside of FF7/8 and Fable 1. I had tried Oblivion, but got tired of the medieval setting extremely quickly. Had I not already known of Lord of the Rings, you could have had half the stuff from that series in Oblivion and I wouldn't have known they were two different things. Fallout 3 was an RPG that played like it should have been set in medieval (Considering it's massive similarities with Oblivion), yet was in a somewhat modern, post-apocalyptic world. By modern, I mean the game uses guns, metal buildings, etc. Yes, there are laser beams and robots, but that stuff is a lot closer than swords and bows and arrows and kings and psychic guards.
