Simple enough I think.

Since I can't do two polls: an addition: what medium do you read mostly?
Books, short stories, things on teh internets, magazines, etc.

I mostly read fiction novels solely for enjoyment. Screw that heavy thinking stuff.

I read books when I'm bored and feel like reading a good story.

School makes me read a lot more than I read on my own. I only read the opening credits to Star Wars otherwise.

Yes, intellectual stimulation pretty much sums it up. I mostly read for something to do.

I read when I find a story more interesting then a event told through site and sounds. Or when a DVD player is out of the question

I read for the escapist feeling. Its nice for an hour or two to just switch off and read about an exciting tale which also keeps you guessing about what could happen next. I prefer the more comedy based works, like those of Terry Pratchett and Robert Rankin but would never turn down a Raymond E Feist for example.

who gets challeneged by reading?
People who read books which put forward a moral set not completely in line with their own, force the reader to look at a situation through another's eyes and assess the "rightness" of the actions the character takes?

I...read for all the three reasons given in the poll because - just as with most things - there's a vast variety of literature out there and not all of it is for the same purpose.

Aye Raymond E. Feist is really good. The pages just seem to turn themselves.

I think its his ability to develop such in depth personalities for all his characters, even the minor ones. It immerses you into the book and before you know it you actually care about what happens to them. :)
