Generally I would read for pleasure, but recently the only kind of reading I've managed to get done has been reading science journals for my research... so I clicked "Intellectual Stimulation".

Whenever I can, I'm reading something. (most of the time a book.) I find reading a book with a good story to be highly entertaining. Might be one of the reasons why I want to write books for a living.

Speaking of, I should really go back and start working on that again.

There are some books that you'll read because they make you see the world in such a radically different way, that some people will think you've changed.
There are some books that you'll read because the subject interested you, and you wanted to see how it might play out.
There are some books that you'll read because you wanted to read a fucking good book, and not become an illiterate asshole.

You should put in a poll option for that encompasses the first three options. I read for all those reasons. Mostly for entertainment though. I loves my fantasy :D

Definitely the entertainment value.

I read for the escapist feeling. Its nice for an hour or two to just switch off and read about an exciting tale which also keeps you guessing about what could happen next. I prefer the more comedy based works, like those of Terry Pratchett and Robert Rankin but would never turn down a Raymond E Feist for example.
Aye Raymond E. Feist is really good. The pages just seem to turn themselves.
All the above authors are awesome. Also - George R.R. Martin

School makes me read a lot more than I read on my own. I only read the opening credits to Star Wars otherwise.

I love reading. I read to try and get to sleep, it never works, I tend to stay awake until I finish reading the book. Not a good thing when I tend to read longer novels.

I read things that intrest me. Whether that entails War and Peace, a historical account, a Young Bond book or Calvin and Hobbes collections, who cares.

I read just about everything

Except Twilight. I will not read Twilight...ever

I read mostly fiction, though it also extends into articles and other generic reading.
I read fiction for a simple reason- because I crave story. I love a good story, and sinking into one whether intellectually stimulating or just a bit of fun, will always be a hobby.
Same reason I write I suppose, for the sake of story, and having a medium for creativity. If only I could be more dedicated to actually writing it though.

I read for entertainment, even if it is intellectual stimulation, it is something that I find entertaining, I also manage to make even the smallest things into stimulation.

Fiction novels, for enjoyment. I never really understood the appeal or reading for any other reason.

I read pretty much any kind of fiction novel but my favorite seems to be comedic fantasy, such as Terry Pratchett (Diskworld), Of Jim Butcher (Dresden Files).
