Good, good, but that one assumption - Somebody has to pick targets and it's pretty likely the same few each time - that's where your argument falls my friend. Different Anons care about different things. Like I've said elsewhere - some Anons love them some CP, others have baited child-groomers into getting caught (I swear, those bruises which look suspiciously like they were caused by 4x2 were there when we got there), others get all pissed about copy-right and others just think it's a hoot watching folks scramble to get curtains and buy a dog.

@DragonChild Okay, so Fox News learns that Anonymous hacked into a guy's Facebook account and put up pictures of gays hugging each other, causing his girlfriend to leave him. They also learn that these creeps make death threats on others, especially if you resist them. What conclusion, exactly, should they come to? The same wrong conclusion that so many on the Internet have, that they're heroes for this sort of thing?

Again, if Anonymous doesn't want to be seen as a bunch of interwebz thugs then they should stop acting like interwebz thugs.

Two fundamental things you should know before discussing 'em because those are two very big misconceptions I see.

That. Calling Anonymous an organisation (good, evil or otherwise) makes me laugh. Mostly due to the fact that using such a term would hint at them being you. know, organised in some way. Do they even have a command structure in place (besides their parents telling them to switch off the computer and get to bed - they do have school the next day after all)?

They describe themselves as the internet hate machine. 4chan itself is the internet hate machine, so yeah, everyone will seem to think that. They do some funny stuff sometimes, they do some righteous stuff sometimes, but not all the time. Sometimes they attack people on the internet who just don't know any better, who yes, are asking for it, but who are also young and naive. Sometimes they go too far, yet on the flip side, they defend net neutrality and such. I think they aren't evil, but they're like most of us regular human beings; they're a mixture of both. Trying to deny that they do some bad shit though is a losing battle.

Anon casts a shadow on every gamer and "net head" out there. Just like the gamers who send threats and spew vitriol over the R18+ issue here in Australia, they do more harm than good.

They may have valid points, but the moment you start making threats and causing harm which even affects innocent bystanders in your struggle, you lose any sympathy and are easily demonised.
