I'm not talking about side quest bonus items/quest or side missions; I'm talking about the main campaign.

I think at one point in every players life they don't finish a game for one reason or another due to it's difficalty (even on easy), it gameplay, not living up to hipe etc.

What's the main reason you stop playing a game?

I usually reach a point in the game where I've gotten bored with it or it has become too hard so I re-shelf it for later. Then I'll move onto another game and repeat the cycle. Eventually I make it back around and finish off the games I started a long whiles back.

Either boredom or bettter games have come along.

Difficulty doesn't bother me - if I get stuck, I leave it, come back to it about a week later and end up blasting through it.

Mainly it's because it isn't any fun.
Or if I have to repeat long quests several times, because of some tiny mistake that ruined it everytime.

I like to get it right the first time, or not run very far if I don't.
I'm looking at you GTA IV.

The game was boring and my abundance of games i prefer to play over it are too tempting to resist..

That or i hire games and i have to do school work until the game is due and never bother to rehire the game.

Sometimes a game becomes too repetetive for me to continue, but often there's a new purchase I want to play instead.

i had to stop playing stuntman on PS2 on the second to last level just because it became impossibly difficult.

I never finished the epilogue of Disgaea 3. I don't know if that's regarded as a side quest or not. I stopped playing after I defeated Salvatore because I had been to the item world too many times and the monotony was going to kill me.

I'm often away from home for long periods of Time, and when I'm playing something very immersive or very emphazised on story and then have to leave for a week or two I tend to find it hard to get back into the Game.Happens to me with alot of RPG's.

When I either get stuck and can't do any progress for 20 retries (Beyond Good and Evil - the last stealth part of game was too hard at that time), the game gets too boring (Fallout 3, Oblivion) or some other game steals my attention (The World Ends With You - Shin Megami Tensei piqued my interest).

Or a new game appears and I want to try it out ASAP.

I get bored easily. So I go to try something else and plan on coming back, but then never do.

I don't mind repetition when its FUN repetition but otherwise...ugh.

Everything ultimately comes down to "is this not fun anymore?". If I say yes, I'm done.

Mainly because of difficulty. The biggest game in this category is FF12. Would it have been so hard to put a save crystal before every boss? I don't want to have to spend another 30min trying to get back to the boss.

I have various reasons for why I don't finish my games, and a different reason for each game. Out of my collection of about 50 or so games I think I've only finished the campaign for a dozen or so.

But someday I'll finish all of them... someday

-Call of Cthulhu: I can't continue due to the large amount of guys running at me with guns when I have no cover.

-Eternal Sonata: Freakin' stuck in Fort Fermenta, it's a pain in the arse and I haven't had the patience for it.

-Lost Oddysey: Not knowing that I could find the anti-paralysis ring, I leveled all of my people past the "area cap"...so to level their skill so I can use the ring or whatever takes way too much time. Without that ability, the stupid worm boss is impossible.

-Gears of War II: That stupid fish, on my own, on Insane. No way.

I think there's a couple others, but those are the main four.
