Lost saga, Minifighter and Metal assault pwn all. Oh and Black prophecy if you like bioware but dont want to pay anything.

Let me elaborate; ACTION mmos are better than mumorpoghas.

Over the years, I've played something like 12 MMO's. And the all time best has to go to Planetside.

WoW's good, but it WAS better - it's unfortunately fallen prey to the Pokemon Syndrome.

LotRO's not too bad, and DDO is alright, but the service and support people at Turbine are TERRIBLE.

I'm having quite a lot of fun with GW at the moment, but haven't played enough to give any decent insight.

STO is repetetive and formulaic (to an almost Asian-micro-transaction-MMO degree). I hit max level in about 3 weeks (playing in the evenings after work) and had repeated almost all end-game content 2/3 times by week 7.

I found CoH/V unpleasant. Despite spending a couple of weeks trying to get into it, it just didn't gel.

Eve Online was the grindiest job I've ever had - and this is from a dude that specialises in regulatory compliance! If you've got some good friends that are going to get you started, it's maybe OK. But picking it up as a stranger? You're just looking to boost your blood pressure and expand your "vocabulary".

Tabula Rasa had potential, but was pretty much dead in the water from the start.

Anarchy Online was not at ALL newbie friendly when I tried it. I hear they've implemented new starter areas and stuff though, but it was never interesting enough for me to go back and give it another go.

Warhammer Online was extraordinarily poorly designed. Without writing a dissertation on it, there's not much else to say.

The Matrix Online had it's issues, and it's subsequent cancellation made them pretty clear.

Star Wars Galaxies was awesome... until the NGE. Then it was instantly overpopulated by whiny Jedi-fanboi-wannabe's and everything that made it special vanished.

I'm currently holding hopes for The Dark Millenium and Planetside: Next.

The only MMO I have ever played, besides Runescape, is LOTRO. And honestly, I am very happy there, the biggest draw naturally being the source material. But also, the ingame community is FAR better than what I experienced in RS.

As I said, I've never played WoW, I likely never will because looking at screenshots and videos, it just doesn't seem to my tastes.
Couldnt agree more, the content in LOTRO isnt always the best but its the people who keep me comming back.

I play me lots of City of Heroes/Villains, and I love that you have it as an option in the polls! XD
-Fist bump!-

I played it for about 3 years straight, but havn'e played it in about... Three years, oddly enough. I've been considering getting back into it... Any signifigant/awesome changes I should know about that isn't Going Rogue?
Lol First of all, love your avatar.

Second, yeah a lot actually.

I mean the visual overhaul it got (I'm not sure if it was part of Going Rogue or not) but basically if you own a good PC you can now play it on Ultra Mode and it looks quite Beautifl.

The Incarnate system (like Statesman and Lord R) that isn't part of the Going Rogue expansion and it's getting pretty sweet.

The Mission Architect, which was recognized as one of the best upgrades for MMOs last year and it's pretty sweet. Also included but I love it is the fact about creating your own custom enemies with their custom looks and custom powers (no archetypes so you can do like FireBlast IceBlast enemies and its cool).

And altho some people feel about them like DLC but I like are the different packs (The Cyborg (Tech pack), the Mutant pack, the Martial Arts (Natural pack), the Magic pack (also there's one called the Valkerye pack), and the Science pack (which lets you alter you body type, gender and height among costume slots... So you can basically make a good Werewolf now... or Ranma). Recently the Animal pack, so you can basically do Beast :D And the fact that you can now customize your powers colors and place of origin (like from head or the hands) in some cases or have an alternate animation all together.)

And lastly all the areas recieving minor overhauls to pretty big ones, like for the hero side mishes and the Positron TF or The Hollows area in general...

I mean I could go on and on but those are the Big ones. XD

oh, and PS: Going Rogue is totally sweet :D

Guild Wars. No subscription fees, better stories, far more interesting graphical style, none of this "endgame" garbage where you have to do pretty much nothing for months just to be able to do something fun for an hour, real community that I can choose to ignore if I'm feeling antisocial...
<- ...my little friend here.

And Guild Wars 2, when it comes out. It outclasses WoW in every possible way.

Currently playing CrimeCraft, got hooked because of the episodes and especially the jobs.
The crafting system is so much fun and complicated and hard, that brings challenges and i love em.

Never played wow bcause i never play P2P games, i'd rather go F2P or B2P
And i prefer playing MMOFPS/action such as Divine Souls because click and move gets me bored ultra-quickly.
anyways anyone playing crimecraft around hurr?

Has Doc Aeon improved on AE? I left just before GR so I remember loving the AE and the revamped Hollows. And they finally added Incarnates?! Holy shit, I sure as hell missed something alright.

PS: Thank you for the compliment.

I can't really vote do to only actually liking WoW, all other MMO's i found i quit in a month or because WoW changed my entire veiw on MMO's, the only reason why i played Runescape for a year or two was because i didn't discover WoW yet. Here's a list of the MMO's a played and why i quit them.
RuneScape - Leveling curve gets way too steep. when i played, only way of leveling archery was killing.
Runes of Magic - Too similar to WoW, didn't find any appeal.
Perfect World - Got angry at not being able to find mats very easily.
Dragonica - It's a cool MMO beat-em up, but it's tough to find quests after you 2nd job advance.
Grand Fantasia - Your sprites, who make the best armor in the game, fail almost all the time.
Toontown - yes i played this when i was younger, in fact it's fun. not enough groups for bosses or help
Lotro - Too much traveling, quests bored me, storyline wasn't interesting.

Eve Online. Love it. There's plenty to do, plenty of Corps (Guilds, for you WoWboys) at war with each other constantly.... it's awesome. Just takes AGES to train for stuff you want. :(

Yeah about both things, I recommend you fire it up again in Ultra Mode and with a high level chum so you can jump right into the Incarnates system (There's a trailer here in the Escapist of Issue 20, that's 6 more since you left). Also if you want more powers like Dual Pistols, Kinectic Melee or Demon Summoning (All awesome) you can get Going Rogue as Digital Download from PlayNc... Lol just saying. :)

PS: Lol I don't work there just in case, I just love the game XD I'm a Pinnacle player.

I really liked EVE. WoW was fun the first time through. I can't stand the repetitiveness of it, which is why no matter the case, I can't level any character beyond my main.

EVE was fun, but I feel like it's size was a bit imposing. But that made it even more fun. And there was also the fact that while there was not "Unexplored" sectors of space, you could still find stuff and be thrilled with it.

I'm gonna say I'm tied between WoW and EVE. Both good games. EVE just has the ability to play for much longer imo

I wish we could have like a ready made Nemesis system over at City. I mean we can with the Arquitech Mission creator thing. But it's not "ready made".

I also play CO because City of Heroes wouldn't run on my computer (integrated graphics). Well, to be more precise, it ran, but all I could see were the background and the outlines of everything else. I couldn't even see myself in the character creator unless I gave myself mutant skin or w/e.

EU-side here. :)

I kept telling myself to get back into it when Going Rogue came out, but I never got around to it. Not enough time.

Hey, my wife and I just started playing this-- still a Silver member, so no custom character yet (although the archetypes aren't bad at all). Really fun so far, and loved the character creator. Border Collie Boy....awaaaaaay!!!! (just dig super leaping around town, actually)

Just for comparison, I'm downloading City of Heroes, too. But it'll have to really impress me in order to shell out past the trial period. Already starting to feel at home in CO.

DC Universe? $50 apiece for the girl and I, compared to no start up for CO or CoH? It would have to be like an online version of Arkham Asylum before I'd drop that sort of coin.

Only MMO I currently have is LOTRO and reasons it's better - It's mostly free (some grinding to get extra content), there's good story and lore and the community is best I have ever experienced in any multiplayer game (maybe 1 unpleasant person so far)
