Yes but don't forget, Japan didn't like the Xbox 1 because of its look and manly size. Some people are picky that way sadly.

No the original xbox has to be the ugliest of the past 10 years, only to be outdone by the Genesis which was only outdone by Intellivision.

OP- do you not remember what the original xbox looked like - It was bigger than a vw engine block and looked like it should have flight recordings on it.

It kinda looks like a toilet.

Remember the Joypads?, they had about 20 buttons at least half of which did literally nothing. It looked like a TV remote gone horribly wrong

The Jaguar looked way worse when it came out many moons ago.

Regardless of that, it's not like that really matters. It doesn't change how the console works, and at the end of the day you won't be looking at the console you'll be looking at your TV.

The Dreamcast was quite substantially uglier.

Indeed, Dreamcast gets my vote.

Ugliest console in the past 10 years....I think not.
What about the PS2 or the Xbox?
Both of those consoles were quite ugly.
I never really thought the Dreamcast was ugly.

The Xbox was also big enough for two consoles.
In the spoiler here's the original Xbox next to the modder created Xbox Micro.

As I said before, it's all subjective.
And I agree the Xbox was ugly as sin. But at least the controllers weren't; controllers are a big part of the console, and I personally found the Dreamcast's controller to be horrid.
Same goes for PS2 really, nothing special about the console case, but the Controllers were great.

I, for one, like the matte finish; I'm sick and tired of slick and glossy surfaces that I have to keep wiping fingerprints and streaks from.

There's really no point in gussying-up a console because all that really does is give a good first impression, it doesn't tell you anything about the types of games it'll play, or even really anything about the company that makes it. That's why XBox 360 has those custom faceplates; they want you to know it's YOUR console, it should match YOUR lifestyle.

Also, remember the NES? that was just a big grey box with bland-as-all-get-out grey and black controllers. Now, compare it to the Famicom, the Japanese version. Lacquered red and gold paneling, it's a work of art. But that arbitrary re-design didn't stop the NES from invading virtually every home in the US.

The only consoles I would ever consider 'pretty' or 'cool-looking' are:
the Fairchild Channel F,
the Vectrex,
the Famicom,
the Apple Pippin,
and the Wonderswan.
The Jaguar gets an honorable mention because its case was re-used to create a dental camera.
Apart from that, give me either a customizable case, or a big blank slate.

Meh it doesn't look great but functional. I don't like that piece stickout the end though. It looks like a Wii on the wrong base. I don't care how it looks though as long as it plays.

I am a bit worried about breaking it though. It doesn't look very sturdy.

Who really gives a damn what their console looks like? And size matters a little when you move it, but on the whole it's pretty negligible.

I got a PS3 like a month ago, when I heard about this new slim I was like 'Noooo!'.

Then I saw a pic of it. Now I don't mind.

I'd be crying if it DID look like that kick ass white PS3 in post no. 2 tho.

Number 1: Its not ugly at all. Its the same as the fat one basically, just slimmer.
Number 2: There are no pretty consoles, they are all just bland white boxes usually. The ps3 is one of the better looking consoles.

Seeing as the OP has his little xbox badge i imagine he is a fanboy and just doing the usual ps3 slamming.

I'm not slamming the PS3, I have a PS3, Wii, PSP, DS Lite, and a 360.

It's not ugly looking at all. They made the thing smaller and took off the shiny, big friggen deal. Looks exactly like it's fat versions so i don't see why people are complaining. As long as the damn thing works does it honestly matter what it looks like!? I mean, who the hell discriminates a console based on looks. I might get one of these slim models depending on what games I'm interested in and how much birthday money I might get.
