Fallout 3 is the one to go for. Oblivion has a bigger area but everything in Fallout 3 is better quality and far more interesting. Quests, enemies, characters, weapons, areas, everything. Oblivion is really just your typical medieval fantasy world with elves, magic and swords.

You should also take a look at Borderlands.

Oblivion is total shit, dont get it, its a VERY BLAND RPG.

Get Fallout 3 or Dragon Age way better than crapblivion.

Why i hate oblivion?

-Bland story (demons invading help!)
-Lack of story.
-Quests are very bland.
-Low attention to detail.
-Lore thrown out the window.
-Boring graphics, with boring colour scheme.
-Everything defines boring.
Say what? Oblivion's colour scheme is way nicer than Fallout's or Dragon Age's because it's not just grey the majority of the game and theres just as much detail as the others with more freedom, quests aren't bland though some are boring (collecting Nirnroot) but you don't have to do that and where in Dragon Age's story is it anything but demons invading help? In addition, you can't say the story is bland then say it's nonexistent because that makes no sense.
Oblivion is just a big green garden the size of yorkshire, sorry Yatzhee was correct 100% on this, i thought that oblivion was bland before i seen his review, the whole game is just green and grey, green forests and grey towns, with almost the exact same field and forest everywhere. The only UNIQUE city was the imperial city, otherwise every town had same layout of guilds, shops, cathedral, castle. No place was special, it was all the same. The castles were all the same, the cathedrals were all the same.

Oblivion threw the lore out of the window, which is why its lost the exotic setting of morrowind, for a stupid generic Wizards and Knights in Europe setting. The quests lost the lore, the story had very little lore compared to morrowind, the game had no more lore, which took out the immersion, because it was replaced with genericness all the way.

I dont seem to connect to the quests much either, unlike in morrowind, where each quests had impressive detail and story behind it, and again it was intergrated VERY WELL with the lore.

With the idiotic idea of generating land, it felt again bland. When a game is handcrafted, like a Blizzard game, or Morrowind, the artists can acctually give soul and charachter to the the whole game, its design of the areas, charachters, and quests. In Morrowind every town felt very diffrent from the other.

The only thing oblivion improved was graphics, and threw all the fun and charachter and soul that morrowind had out of the window, instead having a pre-generated, boring green and grey, knights and wizards in a european setting.

Only good thing in oblivion was the Shivering Isles.

I was extremely dissapointed by Oblivion, because Morrowind is probably in my top 5 games that ive loved and played.
I think there's a pattern here.

Morrowind- Muddy isle with mushroom trees
Shivering Isles- Muddy isle with mushroom trees
Oblivion- Shitty green field with no mushroom trees.

Bethesda should just make "Mushroom Trees: The Game".

Fallout 3 would be the one for me. It's less traditional than the others though, part shooter and all that. In my opinion, it's the best of those.

However, I would totally recommend you get Dragon Age: Origins if you haven't yet. Probably the best RPG I've played in years.

EDIT: Incidentally, why are all your words capitalized?
How is it that you are always the first poster ever!
OT: Fallout seems to have a nice deep backstory to all of the little side quests no matter how insaqnificant and itas just a blast, but dont be like my friend and decide to kill every doctor at level three then back your selfe in a corner in megaton with the auto save putting you at one health in the back of a building being chased by an angry mob

I'm with the Dragon age crew too, it's far superior to any of the games on your list (and on a completely different scale of magnitude than the very bland fable 2, the other games on your list are at least somewhat entertaining)

I know everyone seems to hate it here for some reason, but Oblivion is awesome. I love fantasy stuff like that. I really disliked Fallout 3 for purely cosmetic reasons; not because it's a bad game but because it's so grey and depressing and uninspirarational.

*hides from the wrath of the Fallout lovers*
yeah im the same, oblivion has actual life in it while fallout is so just....dead. i found it way too boring because of that

i know its post apocolypse and all..but jeesh, sometimes their isn't a single fucking person or town foreverrrrr

OT: well if you haven't played ME1 i'd pick up that, seeeing as how i just got a used copy for 12 bucks, but from your list i'd say oblivion, i had alot of fun with it and still having fun with it

otherwise...get knights of the old republic! best bioware rpg by far

Ahem.

One day, as I was tending my sheep on the mountains of Donegal, a harsh wind blew across the valley nearby. I thought nothing of it, and went about my business, but as this wind snaked its way through the mountains, I heard sweet music and honeyed voices come from within its gust.
I became fearful, and ran from the mountains. 2 miles from a town known as Bealshannon, I ran out of breath, and passed out.

When I awoke, the wind was thundering around me, making a great howl and scaring me greatly. But then, the winds broke, a great light shone through, and I heard a thunderous voice from the heavens. Yea, it did say this:

"Fabian Macginty O'Neill, son of Kevin, child of Eire and humble man. For years, you have been nothing but a shepherd, working a simple life, but now, ye must do my bidding!"

"How so, oh mystical force?" I replied. "I am nothing but a lowly man, how can I possibly serve you?"

"You shall serve me in this way!" Replied the voice. "Ye shall join the online community known as The Escapist, land of bounty and mead, for its web url be http://www.escapistmagazine.com/, and its virtues be true. Ye shall become my servant on the Web, and thee shall be known as Furburt!"

But I was fearful of this responsibility and tried to run, but then the Voice became angry.

"FURBURT!" It quaked. "You cannot run from your destiny!"

Reluctantly I accepted, but I fretted over how I was to represent the Voice with only my meager talents.

The Voice heard my pleas, and gifted upon me a magical staff, the Staff of First Post. With this staff, only when it is most needed, I can conjure a magical first post, that can leave cities in ruins and populace's in awe.

That, dear reader, is my story.
Sorry...
What?

never played fall out 3 (heard good things from my mates though)

I would advise Oblivion, as i found Fable to be somewhat... JRPG-ish, what with the clothing (not armour) you wear affecting everything from moral alignment to popularity... barring that and the orbs excreted from dying enemies used to upgrade abilities, I foundvery little RPG in it...

would call it 3rd person action adventure with elements of RPG...

mind i only played for a while round me mates, so maybe it gets better later...

Out of the list get Fallout 3, it's hit the nail on the head with atmosphere and the enemies are pretty fun to look at..if not a bit uninspired (Death claws being the exception).

For Other can't go wrong with a good Bioware.
Those two are really the only good 360 RPG's right now :/
However, if you want a good old school rpg I can suggest literally hundreds..

Edit; Also JRPG's are RPG's just with a premade character... I'm just saying >.>

I didn't write it in a way that was angry or insulting. If you know how people feel about the series (especially Oblivion and Morrowind), then you would understand that that kind of mistake would put him in a very dangerous position with the fans. Best to nip it in the bud before it gets him killed.
