If the first was 100% good, ME2 was only 50% as good.

With ME2; I didn't care for being railroaded in to working for a terrorist organization, I didn't care for The Hammerhead, I didn't care for the fact that its not even the real Sheppard in the game. I didn't care for my hard earned 10 million creds and customized wargear being taken away from me, I didn't care for the over-simplified "RPG" elements. Mostly, I didn't care for the Thermal Clip idea.

Still, for a strong story driven game, it was told pretty well.

I have no idea, Mass Effect 3 isn't out yet.

That's seriously the only answer. The question these people are answering to are "What are your expectations of Mass Effect 3?"
Untrue.

I expect it to equal my expectations.

And that, sir, is your expectation. You're not answering "Will ME3 live up to your expection?", you're answering "What is your expectation of ME3?"

It's not my fault 'Will ME3 live up to your expectation?' is a tautology.

I found ME to be really good, ME2 a lot less, so ME3 will probably be 'meh'

Having played the demo I think it will. My only expectations are towards the story, and whether or not they can wrap the trilogy up nicely.

The gameplay is basically the same as ME2 with next to no difference. The RPG elements seem to be getting more love this time, as there seems to be more abilities and you have multiple specialisation options for each.

I thought so originally, but I've been playing ME2 again, and I just can't see it topping that.

Honestly, all they have to do to make me happy is make it the same as ME2. Don't go overboard trying to change stuff like they did between ME1 and ME2 or DA:O and DA2.

Well I enjoyed both ME1 and ME2 so I have no real reason to think I wont enjoy ME3. I'll try not to get carried away with expectations otherwise I'll run the risk of having unrealistic expectations of the game and then I'll be disappointed regardless of how good it may or may not be.

No it is not your fault, yet I'm willing to do this dance until the end of time if you so wish! I'm getting a bit too poetic for my own good.
Regardless, the question is solved mathematically.

Yeah, that's kind of the attitude I am taking. I don't think it will be bad but like Portal 2 after Portal, it might be not quite good enough.

It's entirely subjective to the expectations you have for it. I think it's going to be a great game and a lot of fun but I don't think it's going to be the greatest game ever released. Too many Bioware fans seem to play their games with that exact expectation.

Go in expecting the greatest game you've ever played will always lead to disappointment. Going in to play a game and have fun and you'll have a much better experience.
