Man, this is some stupid Poll...

Yes, we will and we ARE seeing WRPG that are turn based. Most of them (if not all) are independent, but whatever. They still exist, and they are much better than staring a boring explosions for a stupid plot that makes no sense.

So there...

KoTOR is a strange but awesome mix of Turn Based and Modern RPG.
What the hell does Modern RPG mean?

I think RPG's should aim at a very fast paced gameplay in the future, ala Star Ocean or World of Warcraft.
Why?
Because it's more fun and more rewarding. Also allows for best quality difficulty control. It's no longer about making the boss have 5 billion hp and deal twice the damage on the hardest difficulty setting, just make him react faster and attack faster, and dodge your attacks more often so you have to react faster yourself, and dodge attacks and build combos that are harder to dodge, instead of having to spam the same nuke and heal and taunt for an hour.

Turn based combat is almost always about following a pattern, you can lookup on the net the best pattern to beat a certain boss and then just repeat it endlessly.

I'm not saying there aren't games that do turn based combat well, Resonance of Fate does it perfectly, but I would still have preferred it with a more active combat system.

With any luck, it is long, long gone. It is not skill based. Every single turn-based game I've played boils down to whther you're a high enough level and whether or not you're carrying enough healing items.
Just because the mechanics are not skill based doesn't mean there is no skill required in the game. I don't think AD&D would of been so popular if that was the case; personally the best RPGs i've played have been based on the AD&D model.

That's very subjective, I'd disagree.

What games are you basing this on? Turning up the difficulty in TB works by increasing the enemies AI allowing it to be just as scalable as real time.

Turn based combat is almost always about following a pattern, you can lookup on the net the best pattern to beat a certain boss and then just repeat it endlessly.
Again what games are you basing this on?

I strongly prefer turn based Western RPGs, and they're still being made. You just have to do a little looking for them. You might be surprised to find out the DS has a solid selection of brutal old school turn based rpgs.

Also, the indie pc scene is, and always will be, thriving with great games like this.

Also, the poll is pointless. The games in question are still obviously being made and are good.

I don't like turn based that much, but I think it can evolve into something that is not crap later on.
Some good turn-based WRPGs I found good on the world wide web:
