Wow, the Escapist is refusing to even allow opinions that counter its hard-assed view on Piracy. Classy, folks.

OT: Nah, it's probably not going to be very good.
Gearbox/Take-Two might want to buy advertising space here in the future. Why would they do that if 50% of Escapists have openly admitted they're going to play it without paying for it?
Oh, right, I forgot the users was responsible for selling ad space. I'm just saying software 'piracy' isn't the black and white debate that The Escapist regularly portrays it as and they should be tolerant of points of view that don't fall in line with theirs.

And hey, look! Half of the Escapist says they flat out don't want to play DNF. I'd say that's worse than wanting to play it without paying for selling ad space.
I still don't understand the piracy thing is not an option here, but I don't really care that much. The thing that intrigues me is the percentage. At the beginning more than 70% said they won't buy the game. Only recently it's been above 50% but not that much.

Well, to be honest: NO.

It doesnt seem to be that good, it's just a basic shooter.

I never played any of them or heard much about them until Forever was announced a few days ago. So I honestly don't know what the big deal is. I looked up some old gameplay videos and it just looks like another FPS. Probably my least favorite genre (that or RTS).

Duke Nukem is one of the best shooters and it's part of the childhood of most people here. It was 3D, it had awesome weapons and pure ridiculous macho shit one-liners. But that was popular at the time. One of the more famous ones is "It's time to chew some bubble gum and kick some ass... and I'm all out of gum.". This one sounds funny to me even today :). For now, besides nostalgia, we hope for a FPS, where you have and can carry more weapons than eyeballs, no regenerating health, no cover system, just pure genocidele fun like in Serious Sam or Painkiller.

Yes, I enjoyed the older Duke games and I hope that DNF is just as fun.
After GT5, there isn't too much I am overly interested in getting besides Duke.

It is so weird what people are interested in, other than the Duke. Like Halo reach and Portal 2. Some people said that they would have enough on them or run out of budget. I'm sure those 2 games won't last you that long, and when it comes to Halo, I'll have the Duke instead to spice things up.

Technically I will purchase, technically i will be pirating it at the same time according to many idiotic people. Buying used ftw.

No, I won't be buying it. Why? It doesn't interest me anymore than Serious Sam HD 3-D does (or whatever the name is).

It's a cliche now, not a legitimate game franchise - we'll see what the developers do with it though (obviously an opinion).

Of course I'll buy Duke Nukem Forever. As PC gamers, we were playing with Duke Nukem 3D and Doom long before Console gamers praised their Halo games ^^
Why would a FPS gamer buy the new weird Assassin Creed, expansion-pack looking Infamous 2 or Halo Reach? We were waiting this game almost 14 years. So it is not a waste of money, Halo Reach, Assassin Creed, Infamous 2 would be waste of money. lol.

I don't even need to give it a second thought. I will be on this game so fast. I have waited too long now, so of course I'm going to get it. this is one of my most beloved franchises from the old skool gaming days. I would be barking mad to NOT get it.

You're being ridiculous. Piracy is illegal. Bottom line is, Escapist Magazine as a company with a vested interest in the video game industry, which relies on actual sales to thrive, should not allow themselves to be associated with a pro-piracy community.

They have elected to disallow such discussion, which leaves you with two options: deal with that fact, or choose not to post here.

I'm not being ridiculous for wanting a balanced forum for a discussion on one of the bigger issues in the gaming community today on a gaming website. Again, by your logic, the Escapist should hit the banhammer on anyone who doesn't like games that have been advertised here, including their beloved cash-cow Yahtzee.

I'm not saying piracy is good, or that we should all pirate games, or that we should all brag about pirating games, but one should be allowed to talk about piracy within the context of games on a gaming website without having to filter their opinions through the 'pirates are just meanies' narrative that most writers on The Escapist fall in with.

No. If I buy it, it will show developers that I don't mind them taking twelve years to make a fucking game. Infinity Realms should be punished for their lack of discipline.

shit yeah I will

now, buying an actual legit copy of it will cost me both my balls and my girlfriend's left tit, considering how expensive legit retails are down here in Argentina T-T

that doesnt mean I'm gonna straight up pirate it, means that I'll search high and low to get one

or ask my father to lend me his credit card to get it on steam =P

its not a question of will I buy it, its a question of have you already bought it. and yes i have,

its so mind-numbingly awesome that i forgot to feed my unicorn yesterday, and since i didn't feed him, he decided to shoot hot and fresh cinnamon rolls out of its rail-gun horn and blast me to the second moon of hurple, deep in space!!!

and before you ask me; yes. the spongey material of my asylum room is VERY comfortable!
