I hated the first bioshock, and never played the second one. But from what I've seen, infinite actually looks really good, so put me down under definitely.

It looks pretty interesting, but I'm kind of on the fence because of my money situation.

I love the themes it goes into. The nationalism that was tied to its racism(I guess in those days your race was your nation but whatev not cool anyway) The colors the imagery of the white man standing proud and tall while racist caricatures clamber up to steal his "well earned" (stolen) place atop the food chain. very gangs of newyork and a setting/philosophy weve yet to explore yet.

Absolutely. It's probably the only game not out yet that I definitely want to get. I wouldn't say that I am hyped for it though, but that's because I have learnt the hard way what too much optimism feels like when something ends up being disappointing.

Nope. its one of those games that seems to be very close to what I love, but somehow very far away at the same time. Although, this year I'm trying out a lot of games I normally wouldn't, so maybe.

I don't see any reason not to. I'm glad it's tonally different. As much as I enjoyed the two previous excursions to Rapture (three, counting the masterful Minerva's Den), I think having a third game set there would only serve to take away from the previous games' stories.
Yeah, it's refreshing to see a company actually trying to make something new out of the series rather than giving us what they have already showed is twice before.

OT: I will not buy it. the first one just didn't click with me, I don't know why, I like the story, the setting, the gameplay mechanics, the concept, the physics, it just didn't do anything for me. Infinite looks really beautiful and I love the graphics, but I don't think the series is for me.

Bioshock 2 suffered greatly because it tried to follow up Bioshock directly, despite the fact that the first game neither needed, nor really left any opening for a sequel. This, in my opinion, would have been the case even if it had been Irrational that had worked on it.
This is what I thought. I thought it so fervently that I didn't even buy part 2. Part 1 was a neat, tidy story that ended as it should and I saw no reason to return to rapture. Doing so, in my eyes, would have cheapened the experience I already had there.
Now this new place looks exciting. It looks like they are trying get the same sort of tension with a entirely different locale and pace. From what I've seen so sar I think they can pull it off. I'm excited to see what the final product will be.

OBVIOUSLY.

Bioshock 1 and 2 where pretty damn good games. Especially 2 (Yeah, I actually liked 2 more than 1, sue me).

I'm going in with a mindset that this isn't a true Bioshock game. It's a game I want so much -- Steampunk FPS with a good art design, good characters and not in a completely realistic set, plus some elements of RPG, but it's not a Bioshock game. Maybe they'll fix some things I didn't like in Bioshock, maybe they'll add new things I don't like, but I'm going with it.

Short answer, yes. Long answer, HELL YES! This was one of only three games I wanted in 2012, and two of those three got pushed back to 2013, so Borderlands 2 was the only on-release game I bought this year. Bioshock was great. I got Bioshock 2 on a Steam sale and it earned a solid "meh" from me. But this game just looks so damn imaginative compared to what would be a third and completely unnecessary tired slog through Rapture. The story actually looks very complicated. In Bioshock you get there after the major war in Rapture. In this game you get there right in the middle of it. Then there's the part about multiple realities, the enemies have great variety, and it all just looks so fucking cool.

Oh, and there's a new trailer:
Granted this highlights the gameplay not the story, but holy shit just take my money already.

I'm looking forward to it. I really like the first one and I even sorta like the second one, so this is going to happen.

A thousand time yes! I want it! Now! Gimme!

Seriously though, I'm getting the Collector's Edition next month (hoping some will still be available by then) as soon as I get money.

has everyone forgotten that there aren't just the handymen and regular humans in Columbia but also the Boys of Silence, the Sirens, and the Motorized Patriots?
Bioshock has always been about offering the player different means of fighting and with the creators adding more than just humans, big daddies and security turrets it looks to be a fun ride, and ever since the first 10 minute demo trailer appeared I've wanted to play it.

I mean, the first Bioshocks were fun for me with the art and the story; however, when compared to Infinite, Bioshock was simply moving from fight to fight in closed off rooms with no real feel for being underwater. But Infinite, it takes you into the sky and you actually have to use that in order to fight, no longer are you stuck in a room until the enemies are gone.

I think Columbia has the potential to be more interesting than Rapture.

As much as I enjoyed the first game's setting, the fact that it was underwater had more to do with aesthetics than how it actually affected what was happening and what you needed to do. With Columbia you're actually moving through the skies.
