Will you opt out of the class action lawsuit against Sony? I'm going to stay in if it survives, it's been quite a pain in the butt canceling my card and swapping over.

EDIT:

Joystiq article with embedded complaint, http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/27/class-action-lawsuit-filed-against-sony-for-security-breach/

No. I have never had any dealings with Sony, other than purchasing half-decent headphones.

Call me a weakling instead of a fighter (though I prefer to be called a lover) , but I simply don't give a shit about suing Sony.

I just want this whole ordeal over with as fast as possible so that we can all go back to hating on popular games, and hating on the haters of popular games.

You can't sue them over the PSN outage. They have a contract clause that states the PSN is provided as-is. Voted no. It's pointless.
You know what you CAN sue them for? Them letting my personal information be stolen. The notion of someone suing them for the reason you stated is ludicrous.

Yes. Yes, I will.

No, I'd rather not contribute to this problem and resolving the issues surrounding this whole debacle took me 10 minutes. I'm getting a new credit card in a week, and changing my password takes no time at all. While Sony does shoulder some of the responsibility regarding this whole mess, there should be greater focus towards finding the ones responsible for this instead of pouring gasoline onto the fire.

Until this whole situation pans out, I am not going to out right scold Sony and hold them entirely responsible like too many people are doing. I want all the facts and information before I jump to any sort of conclusion.

I just find the attitude some people have towards all this crap absolutely cringe worthy. There is so much stupid in a lot of these news threads and the trolling is off the charts. I thought more people would be more mature and well informed about all this, but I'm naive for thinking that highly of people in these sorts of situations.

No, this kind of thing happens all the time with different companies. The fact it is such a big deal when it happens to Sony is disgusting. I hope the judge takes one look, laughs, and throws the case out.

Tracking down the jerks that did it, I will support that. Going after Sony, however, is stupid.

that clause might not hold up when people are playing MMOs on the PSN. Think about paying a monthly fee and the psn going down for a week, 25% value lost on that product.

I'm still not joining the lawsuit. If my credit card gets used without my permission, I'll have my credit card company cancel my card and deal with Sony if need be. I'm also looking into my credit card's info to see if there's a problem if I think my card's been compromised and I don't report it, to see if I'm liable in any way.

Yeah, because Sony opened up the gates and let randoms waltz in and take personal information from them. Nice logic.

I am declining from this lawsuit. I'm more interested in finding the bastard(s) that did this. Sony did their part (not so well, but they did their part) but I would rather get the person who got access to all the information.

The problem is that they didn't notify us quick enough. They might not have been sure that our details had been taken at that point, fine, but they should've at least warned us of the possibility.

I'm in, the credit card I had to cancel pretty much sealed the deal for me. The fucking bastards aren't concerned enough to even encrypt my information then sure...they deserve it.

Who' responsibility is it to keep that information secure exactly? I gave it to them, should they not be held accountable for it's safety?

Y'all realize that, if you have a PSN account, you've been automatically named as plaintiffs, right?

You actually have to contact the court and go through the legal paperwork to opt out. (I did so on the PS2 DRE case and it was a pain.) If you don't actively opt out, you will be considered a plaintiff. Usually, the notice of legal action that you get details the onerous process of how to opt out.
