I play pretty sparingly these days, mostly due to a paucity of good games having been released during the last ten years.

For me, it's all about taste and types of games being played. I'm slowly leaving the big budget market and going more towards the art-house gaming circuit and casual games. Sure I still love Call of Duty, Left 4 Dead, Grand Theft Auto, etc; but now I enjoy games like Facade (look it up, it's free and brilliant), Braid, and Bioshock.

I also feel at this point that games are now at the level of movies, and by that I mean that everyone plays games and watches movies and noone really outgrows movies, just types of movies. Do you think that at 50 years old you'll still be watching movies on the level of Transformers 2 and The Proposal? My guess is "no".

I don't think so. They're about as much a part of me as books or music, which is to say, I wouldn't be me without them.

I am 24 and about to leave for training with the U.S. Secret Service. Consequently, I will be unable to play my 360 until sometime in November. If that doesn't stop me from playing video games, I doubt I ever will. I will probably just not play them as much.

I don't know if it's happening in any of your cities, but here, the retirement homes showed old folks playing the Wii as an activity in the newest commercials. So I wonder if more senior citizens will become gamers when they weren't before...

I'm going to die of a gaming related disease.
It's worth it for my really strong thumbs.

Nice picture.

I think I'll stick with them for life, adding fodder to Keane Ng's post:

I'm definitely not as into games today (26, married, Insurance career) as I once was, but I still get in plenty of Halo with the wife, and pick up the big releases as they come out, so I don't know. I think there'll be a time when I just can't be bothered gaming anymore. Maybe when I'm 30, maybe when I'm 50. Maybe when I have to start taking home work with me and have to spend my evenings with a laptop in my hands instead of a 360 controller. Maybe never.

I'm 47 (yes I said 47!) and I play games most days. Its mostly rock band lately, but I played fallout 3 a lot. I used to play COD 4 a lot, and counter-strike before that. My favorite is Half life 2 and some of its mods. Most of my friends my age watch a lot of TV. Some will spend hours in a bar, then remark how games are a waste of time! I'd rather play a game.

I actually work in a retirement home, and it seems like every week there is a planned Wii Sports or Wii Play day. Believe me, there is nothing more funny/awesome than senior citizens playing tennis or frantically shooting the alien ships in Wii Play's shooting gallery.

I figure if my interest in gaming hasn't lapsed by the age of 23 but rather intensified it's not going any where ever. And I like it that way. I've outgrown or at least lost interest in many of the genres I used to love though. JRPG's for example. They used to make my heart beat and my lungs draw breath; now they bore me to death. Action and Adventure games as well as FPS have come up to take their places though. I think gaming is a life long thing for me.
