He did exist, we have enough evidence to prove that. Whether he actually wrote his plays is still debated, though I believe that he did.

And for the record, we did land on the moon and Jesus also did exist.

Wouldn't surprise me. Just look at the FlatEarth Society, the 2012 crack-heads, MOST conspiracy theorists (which I suppose this counts as), Chris- (So not going there. MUCH too easy and obvious. ;) ). People'll believe anything.

He did exist. All that is disputable is whether or not he wrote his material or if his ideas are all original. It is well known that most of his plays are adaptations of famous legends.
Everything's got to originate from somewhere.

OT: Yes, duh.

Wait... what? I really hope this is a funny.
Oh no, it's actually true. English class includes these ancient fabrications merely to lend credence to their authenticity.

No you fools! He never existed and it was all written by ME! MUHUHAHAHAHA!

*ahem* I wanted to make Romeo and Juliet about a boy who was a n00b and a girl who was 1337 but C.S. Lewis was all "That won't be good for ages, lets go with some houses or some shit like that, back to the batcave!"

the title of the thread made me laugh. i dont think there really is any doubt that he existed, but as to whether or not he plagarised any of his work, well you could say that about any writer, musician etc. but i dont buy into stuff like that. i assume (or rather hope) this is a joke thread.

Man, that duel with The-ModeRazor was awesome, but I have to say, since I was there to witness it, that Shakespeare definitely turned up, and so he must have existed.

He totally existed!

The plays can't have been written by different writers, they all have a special touch

EDIT: Oh, right:

(First Thread woo)
The immortal William Shakespeare has been known by almost all of humanity ever sense he burst onto the theater scene in england. But did he ever really exsist? There are a group of people in the world who argue that William was an imagination, that his works are real but there was a diffrent writer or writers. Which do you believe?
There's also a man who claims that the moon is a hoax, put in the sky by the Templars to fool people.

Point is, if it can be imagined, some shit-for-brains nutbag is going to believe it.

I still hope the above is a Poe.

There's plenty of evidence the person William Shapespeare's existed, and I assume most (if not all) historians think he did. More interesting is the question wheter Homer (writer of the Illiad and Odyssey) existed, since nobody is sure of that.

I'm studying King Lear and have done MacBeth and The Merchant of Venice. The man was a genius and he did exist. That's like claiming that Darwin never really existed or Galileo was really an antelope.
WIN. Best thing I've heard all day!
