Is this a trick question? Ah, so sly, you are.
But yes. Obviously he existed. People who say he didn't are kind of like people who say the Holocaust never happened. They're delusional. Just ignore them.

Yes, he existed. I mean, there's no proving that he did, but there's no proving that anyone existed.
I'm also very sorry for mentioning religion on here, but I the hypocrisy is absolutely stunning here. I think it's funny how nearly everyone is saying "Of course he existed, you idiot!" and then go on to argue how Jesus never existed. In fact, there's as much proof that He did that Shakespeare did so why are you going on saying that people who believe he doesn't are idiots?
Okay, I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. Comparing the argument of Jesus and Shakespeare isn't even...comparable.
Shakespeare was alive in the 16th century. Late 1500s, widely regarded to be the start of the modern era. This is a time when it is would be very, very easy for our modern society to look back and figure out whether someone incredibly famous existed or not. It's like saying, "Well, did Cortez
really land in Mexico in 1519? Did he even exist?" Well, of course he did!
Jesus, on the other hand, was alive two thousand years ago--is referenced in the Bible and the Qu'ran--but comes from a society that speaks different a language, had a different set of cultural values and there was no widespread ability to travel. If Jesus ever wrote anything down himself, I've never heard of it. So from an intellectual standpoint, of course people can be cynical. You're talking about two very different people from two different parts of the world in two incredibly different eras.
So, I really hope you were joking.
