I had all four yanked and they only did topical anestetic (spelling?) It sucked, but I wasn't all goofy from being put under.

I had all 4 pulled with just novacaine, it took all of 20 minutes, but then none of mine were impacted. If they are impacted then they have to cut your gums around the tooth to pull it, so it takes a while.

Edit: To make sure it doesn't get infected, wash your mouth with salt water before going to bed for a few nights. The teeth do leave a pretty large hole for food to get stuck in after all.

I'd rather stay up. Though, I normally have to anyway when I have to get something done to my teeth. I like to say, "I'm watching you, Mister." Just before they numb the hell out of my mouth.

Nothing would happen. My sister still has all of her teeth, she's not the brightest penny in the pond.

I have yet to grow them (two are half-way there, so I'm not sure it counts) and 2 years ago, when I did an IQ test, I still retained over 135 IQ. It used to be 142 when I was 12, but hey, still 35 over average. It's probably around 130-132 now.

I had 4 teeth out under novacaine when I was young, when you wake up it does really suck! But I'm not a fan of local anaesthetic either, the dentist had to push him knee into my chest to get the necessary leverage to crack the roots that way. I almost choked on very thick spit after that. I am not at all someone who spits on the street habitually. But that stuff was too thick to swallow so I gobbed it out, but it was too thick to break and got taken by the wind. I had at least 6 feet of blood/saliva/gauze trailing out of my mouth at a 90 degree angle thanks to living in windy, cold England. I panicked and broke it with my finger, it flew off and hit someones car...I'm a little ashamed.
That made me laugh hard.
I'd like to be awake for it, but I don't want needles in my gums.
However, I don't even have any to be a problem as of yet.

I had no choice but to go under because of a genetic condition where there was a chance of me having a reaction to the anaesthetic and overheat from the inside out and die so it had to be done in a hospital.

Mine, it looks like, are impacted. I'll have to have them removed in an unpleasant manner. I'd prefer to be knocked out first.

actually all of mine were impacted, but they only drilled a little on the bottom, the top two came out pretty quick, and your right about the salt water, your supposed to use it 2-3 times a day, especially after you eat.

I'd go under, but I don't have to worry, I don't HAVE wisdom teeth. They never grew in.

Go under. I still have my wisdom teeth because when I was 12 I had eight teeth removed from the roof and floor of my mouth because they were impacted. When I woke up even with the shots the pain was TERRIBLE. Having it done when awake would suck beyond all comprehension.

All of mine were impacted so I got them all taken out at once. I got frozen and then hit with the laughing gas. Man, that was awesome.

I prefer to kep my teeth in good shape, which is why Red Bull is my worst enemy.
What has that to do with wisdom teeth removal? Most people get their wisdom teeth pulled due to crowding, impactions and the like.

Anyway, I suppose I'd prefer to stay up during the process- then I could at least scream loudly if they didn't give me enough lidocaine.....

I would go under because the gas is a wonderful experience.
When I got gassed, it felt awful (for my wisdom teeth removal, no less)- I thought my heart would keep on beating faster and faster until I died.....

EDIT: Oh well- it's over with and I'm happy for it (although the subsequent intestinal infections I got from the antibiotics afterward deserve no less than a thousand deaths)- we're talking about laughing gas, right?

Well, I might have had a strong version of gas, because I had to get a tooth removed that was WAY up there. I'm talking about by my maxilla (upper lip bone). Took and hour to get out. No school though. And mashed potatoes whenever I wanted. *Drools*
