I know nothing about the laws on this sort of thing, but I do know that it is completely insane.

Why should it be a crime?

Animal abuse is already a crime.
I assume she killed it with a point blank shot (IE killing it without the animal suffering)
it,s respect less and a bit insane but not illegal (It,s the same as me smearing my own face with dog crap not illegal just weird and gross)

Well, seeing as the horse was killed humanely, it's pretty much just a case of playing around a bit with your food before eating it. I sure hope she took a good long shower afterwards.

Nope, you're not required to reply.

Wouldn't call it a tangent though. It's a pretty straightforward response.
It's just that my criteria for a "straightforward response" includes relevance. I opined that the girl was nuts. Nowhere did I say that she was "the worst kind of nutter". Nor would I.

Your strawman is very flammable.
Ahh, some good old stubborn misunderstanding. And just when I was feeling bored.

Your original point entailed you being upset at you sharing the same dirt with one as nuts as her. I questioned your rather low barriers of entry for being upset about a nutter.
Whether you'd call that fully relevant is up to you, but it certainly is straightforward in that it follows a logical train of thought, without so much as a detour.

Oh, and I don't do strawmen. Controversy is no fun without a solid argument.

No, you implied that I considered her the "worst kind of nutter". I'm sorry, but I see no possible reading of your original statement that matches the above assertion. Meh.

And if climbing inside a dead horse corpse and covering yourself in its entrails for the lulz is a "low" barrier of entry, so be it.

Nope. Nothing wrong at all, though putting those pictures on the internet was an odd move. I mean, surely they had to have guessed it would offend someone with internet access...

If, as claimed, the horse was indeed terminated by legally-permissible means. No crime there.

There's a little question in my mind about the ethics and hygienic concerns of wearing a dead horse.

But what really strikes me as a matter of public concern is the taking pictures and posting them online part.

What sort of community would actually want to see this rather macabre photo shoot?

I think we may need to study these people, FOR SCIENCE*! (*Behavioral aberration and motivation science to be specific)

These people are freaks, but sounds like they didn't break any laws. They shouldn't have done what they did, I'm sure they're gonna catch a shitload of flack from it, which the completely deserve.

That was probably part of the point. Giving offense on the internet is sort of a hobby some people have...

Personally, I'm not too mad about it. I was silly and wasteful, and I certainly wouldn't do it myself... but I'm sure horses have been killed by people, humanely and otherwise, for far worse purposes. Essentially: not a big deal to me.

Messed up? Very.

Illegal? No, since the animal wasn't killed inhumanely. After the thing is dead, what they do with the body is up to them.

Is it sort of gross? Yes.

Should it be illegal? No.

Assuming she treated the horse as humanely as they're treated when being killed in other legal contexts, personal disgust with what she didn't shouldn't figure into legality.

Not trying to recreate something from Star Wars sometime in your life should be a crime. This woman was just more creative about it.

I wish I knew, it's just a brutally massacred cow as far as I can see

I'd love to ask whoever awarded it the turner prize but I doubt they could give a real answer

Asking on this forum if something should be a crime is a pretty ridiculous idea. I mean come on, this is the forum where I read someone arguing specifically for legalizing child pornography. What a joke.
