The only way this argument would stand anything but a casual glance is if there was a 'strength' measuring stick that eliminated all but the body-building types. The fact males are stronger on average means squat when you consider that all males but those who are severely physically challenged are capable of getting into the military. Twigs of men are able to join without a problem, but even the strongest of woman are not?

Take myself for example, if I had wanted to join the military I could of easily and yet I bet more then half of the females out there could pin me down quite easily.

No, the strength argument is Bullshit. While factually correct it uses this fact incorrectly to hide a simple truth that even you did raise: It is hard for a male to ignore that feeling that they should be protecting 'their females' and seeing one hurt causes distress.

That is the only reason they don't want woman in the military and it isn't a good one if you ask me. They need to man up, pun intended, and deal.

The reason's as to why were all clearly listed by the author of this thread. Everything he listed was extremely accurate, and makes a lot of sense.

All I have to say is LOL to the women who fight for their rights to be in the military, then if we tell them to join it, they suddenly change their mind.

As I read yours
Hence reference to the PTS stuff. Still with your clarification I can see what you where going at but still think it is a weak argument. After all, the vast majority of males that walk in the door are not up to scratch. Why is it alright to work these males up to scratch and not woman whom, for the most part, will reach the measuring bar with the very same training?

as long as they can pass the exact same training regimen, sure why not.

I agree with that women should be able to fight but I how are women less prone to corruption than males?

If they would die for their country, then let them ( I know I wouldn't!)

Sadly, a general mindset of the world is that women are significantly weaker than men. Where did such foolishness come from anyway...oh yea, Adam and Eve. Well that was like 7,000 years ago!
I don't see why they aren't held to the same training standards as men then.

If women want to fight, and possibly die, for their country, I say let them enlist. Why shouldn't they be allowed to join?
They are allowed to join, the question is about combat roles and other opportunities that are male-only areas. Such as front line infantry.

Soldiers are soldiers, the only thing that should effect if they're recruited or not is if they can fight.

It was rhetorical. I believe they should be allowed to be there if they so choose, or get assigned to it.

Whoever said that women are inferior combatants probably hasn't looked up the history of female combatants.

If you've ever heard the Viking tale of Blenda, you'll know that women can swing battleaxes and butcher entire armies just as well as men can. Hannah Duston, who killed 10 Indians with a tomahawk 2 days after she gave birth to her 9th child. Don't even get me started on the survival stories involving women.

However, it'll take more than a few stories to get my point across, so let me use the most famous example of female acceptance into a modern army, which would be the Soviets in WW2. The Soviet Union was founded on equality and they needed as many people as they could get to fight, so they had no problem with giving women guns. What they discovered was that women had certain aspects that uniquely put them above men; stuff like climbing, endurance, precision. They found that generally, females proved more capable than men in things like sniping and piloting.

Women aren't exactly inferior because they don't have the muscle mass of men. Sometimes, toughness and aerobic training is all that's needed. They're quite capable of firing guns at people, judging from personal experience spent around Greeks and Russians.

...much greater risk to females of physical and sexual abuse (especially if taken prisoner).....

...upon seeing women wounded in battle, men will often lose control of their actions during psychological lapses that usually put both them and their squadmates at risk......

..... Islamic soldiers will never, and I mean NEVER surrender to female soldiers
For these reasons I don't want women in direct combat roles. I know if I was fighting I couldn't give my best with women in my squad. I was raised to protect women, I know that makes me a chauvinist but I don't care it's what I believe, I think it's right, and I'll continue to do so.

In a perfect world they should be able to serve on the front lines, but then in a perfect world there wouldn't be any.

Women should definitely be allowed to assume a combat position.
I've got some positions they can assume. Gneh-heh-heh

....I am so sorry, why hadn't someone else said this so I didn't have too!?

Wow, haven't seen this topic in a while.
I think they should be allowed into the military. I mean, we need all the help we can get. And don't give me that 'it's not the right type of tactic that should be used in the Middle East." I'll give a damn about strategy again when we stop using aerial attacks to take out entire streets of people to fight a guerrilla war.

Women should always have equal rights no matter the circumstances.
