WoW is not coming to it's end. It has AT LEAST another 3 years before that is even a slight possibility, and I'd be very surprised if it wasn't alive and kicking in 5 years. The only thing that could stop WoW is Blizzard's next MMO, which is a new IP, not Starcraft.

I don't think World of Starcraft is a possibility, but I have been wrong before.

what? aren't there several million active subscribers at this point? that hardly sounds like something that is dying.

that and i know a few people who are going to re-subscribe when Cataclysm hits just to see how the world has changed. Well, they say they are only going to stick around to see the differences, but something tells me they will find themselves drawn back in for longer than intended.

Ummm, WoW is based off of Warcraft, an RTS. I think that Blizzard will do exactly the same thing with Starcraft, only IN SPAAAAAAAACE!

Prolonging the life of their franchise by adding expansions? That ought to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard in terms of MMO gaming in a long time.

11 million subscribers can't be wrong and the fact that WoW is bigger than most MMOs together does not speak in favor of it's demise.
WoW is a monster and it wont just stop because of time.

I could just see the Story of the game unfold, first you would have to go into the depths of CHAR and defeat Banelingaros.

You would later cure all the zerg strains after picking various body parts of the broods creatures, (eyes, hoofs, lungs, wings and claws OFC) and yes 20 of each will do with a 0.5% droprate.

The lore would start with you being the universes last hope vs The Hybrid Dark Lord, you will kill him by winning the waiting for raidparty to form competition. Then any mention or rewards of the feat will be so miniscule that you'd wish the darklord would have just crushed the world of SC for good.

You will have Classes like the Zealydralotrine That can be range and closecombat tank mage healer at the same time.

And you will only have 1 stats called, Achievement points, so any gear with the most achievement points will win.

A new race will join Called the SPACEORCS and STARNIGHTELFS only due to fanpressure.

Ok this is like how much sense WoW makes sense to date.

If they made a World of Starcraft, Universe of Starcraft, or whatever they would call it. Then I'd most likely give it a shot.

I don't think WoW will be dying any time soon though, not for antoher 5 years or so (it might even grow, you never know). I'll probably be playing till that happens, although I will continue my 10 month breaks from it.

Blizzard is already working on their next MMO, and it's a new IP, so not Starcraft/Diablo

Blizzard knows that WoW is comeing to the end of its life span they are throwing in expansions to increase time but eventually no one will play it. But what if Blizzard just jumps onto a MMORPG of Starcraft i know its a bit to take a handle of but think about.Blizzard makes tons of money with WoW when WoW finishes and is no longer profitable they might just clone WoW into another of there games World of Diablo, World of Starcraft. but this is a long way away of course its just i wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

So anyway do you think they will make more MMORPG's about there own games or do you disagree?

i discussed this in Borean tundra and someone also suggested that ' What if Starcraft and Warcraft got turned into the same game' i doubt it but still you never know.
Woohoo, I was the 100th vote.

No, they won't make a World Of Starcraft. Diablo... Could happen, but once again won't. I think they'll start working on something completely new in a few years, but we'll see.

Blizzard should concentrate on making their current MMO good, then consider developing a second.

IF they decided for a Starcraft MMO, it'd only be a clone of WoW with updated models.
Because that's what Blizzard does.

I think your looking a little too far into the future. Blizzard still has to end WoW, which probably won't happen for a long time considering they like money.

Bit harsh to say that WoW is coming to its end. MMOs don't die if enough people keep their subscriptions, and it'll be safe to say WoW will still be going for at least another decade. It's still the most popular PC game according to Xfire. There is no rush.

I'll be interested to see how anyone attempts to turn an RTS into an MMO, and End of Nations may prove to be that template.
You realize Warcraft was an RTS right?

OT: WoW isn't going anywhere, it's going to be around as long and people want to pay for it.

In what way is SC2's DRM draconian?
Having to log in once a month is seriously harsh man. I mean, that just plain old evil!
You misspelt day in a surprising fashion, it looks like "month" which of course is a much less harsh system than the actual one. While I wouldn't say evil I figured most people would get how it's draconian insofar as DRM can be draconian. Anyway what with my Internet being down for 10 days now the DRM has effectively turned the game into a doorstop.

10 million+ players? End of its lifespan? Please.

I think the need to release an MMO version of the game is pretty pointless. Rather than making a whole new game it would be easier to just add more content onto a current one. Hence why WoW is still around and there hasnt been a Warcraft 4.

And the whole "WoW 2" thing is starting to really annoy me. I can't think of a good situation where making a second, separate MMO was a good idea, when you would more than likely lose all of the things you had in the previous one.

You do realize that's a bug they are trying to fix right?

While it is completely fair to complain about a bug its not the intended limitation.

Complain about blizzard fucking up the offline mode and not implementing it right, not about a 'draconian drm' that doesn't exist. This is not some sneaky underhanded way to make people validate everyday. This is them screwing up with a mistake and trying to fix it.
