The B-52 showed itself capable of handling extremely dangerous bombing missions straight into the teeth of hostile ADEZs in Vietnam. The NVA completely expended their SA-2 stockpiles for extremely underwhelming results against Stratofortressess. In a 1980's conflict, with EF-111As and F-4Gs protecting them even further, the Soviets would stand almost no chance of knocking down bombers from the ground.
