What is being billed as the world?s first sex robot has been unveiled at a Las Vegas porn expo.
The unit, classily dubbed Roxxxy, was unveiled by maker TrueCompanion at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.
The creator and CEO, an AI engineer, describes the bot:
?She can?t vacuum, she can?t cook but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean.
She?s a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep. We are trying to replicate a personality of a person.?
The ?robot? has a skeleton (a feature present in most high quality sex dolls), but cannot walk or move its limbs.
Its robotic mobility is said to be limited to ?the three inputs,? presumably the three orifices most likely to the object of conventional sexual attention. Sensors enable the unit to respond verbally to touch.
In other respects it is similar to conventional high quality sex dolls (such as those seen here).
The major selling point is apparently its AI, which comes in five preset personalities ranging from sexually naive to dominatrix. Units can connect to the Internet to receive software updates and share personality templates.
The company explains the rationale behind the product:
?The sex doll industry was effective at creating very expensive and somewhat realistic dolls ? but many people were telling us it was like their dolls were ?catatonic?, like they were injured and unable to speak and interact. They wanted to have their dolls become interactive and be their friends.
We solved this problem and now our customers can have sex robots that in one person?s opinion ?are now brought to life?!?
The units are to be bespoke, with customers able to specify physical characteristics such as race and hair colour, and of course breast size. Prices start at $7,000.
A male version, ?Rocky,? is also in development.
