FFIX was the most uninteresting of all. And based on the votes apparently V is the BEST FF STORY OF ALL TIME... which is not the case. That rates just higher than IX imo.

Anywho I title goes to FF8, and if you say otherwise you are wrong Wrong WRONG. Terrible story telling and characters, and a love story that looks as if it was written by some Disney reject..or a 12 year old.

Guess what? FF8 is one of my favorites, and I'm not wrong because the contrary is your own opinion. And when people attempt to invalidate the opinions of others based purely on relative terms, I don't trust their judgement.

Also XII. It involves a half-naked poor guy somehow oeverthrowing an Empire that doesn't really look evil.

Personally, I think Vaan shouldn't have even been in the game. He didn't even really do that much as the primary protagonist...
I don't particularly dislike him, but he was just kinda... not quite with the feel of the game.

I'd go for XII. Vaan, such a camp little creature. Balthier, again, camp. Grr...I dunno, the story didn't seem to draw me in like the others.

You're just jealous of Balthier 'cause he's the digital Gunther.

IX,VIII and IV had the best stories IMO.

Damn right, Ashe, Basche, Baltheir and even Penelo were pretty good characters. Fran wasn't terrible, but she was just there to be eye candy really.

However NoMoreSanity's statement confuses me a little, usually people complain that Final Fantasy is too cliche, what with the Always Evil Empire, and the Poorly Motivated Villains etc. and when they give us The Arcadian Empire in FFXII, one of the most realistic governments I've ever seen in a Final Fantasy game... people do nothing but ***** and complain.

Even though half the population practically creams it jeans from the mere mention of FF7 I gotta say that was the worst one. I don't remember much of it since I've been pretty much dedicating my life to ignoring it, (Along with Inuyasha) but I do remember it being tedious and predictable, I pretty much knew Aeris would die, and Cloud would get all sobby and emo.

Plus I gotta say that 7 irritates me because of all the attention the fans give it, I know it was the first 3D Final Fantasy but come on! the fan were so busy worshiping the game that almost every other Final Fantasy gets ignored... It's really annoying...

The politics of the Archadean Empire were incredibly compelling to me... By no means can I understand how it could be viewed as objectively bad. The evil twin twist wasn't so much a twist as a new layer to the death of the King. As Basch's brother was Gabranth, this also added a new layer to the conspiracy, and established Gabranth as a character.

I don't know its kinda hard, I hated FFXII with a passion but it you had FFX-2, god no I'm not talking about how bad and chessy that game was.

Didn't like FF8, personally.

I found most of the characters either boring or unlikable. So I didn't really care much about their story. And Squall was just--trying too hard and Rinoa was obnoxious.

Kinda wished they had spent more time fleshing out the political machinations of Vayne and his underlings. But Final Fantasy isn't Suikoden, so I guess that's too much to ask.
