i thought one gaming system might work but that would be bad ,no console wars ,but a new idea ,how about no more exclusive or one system only games ? like halo ,resistance ,etc i think it would work even better than one gaming system , halo on ps3 with the graphics ? cool ,mario on xbox ? how bout zelda on both xbox and ps3 it would be sweet and the game companies would make money would it work ? i ask you my escapist friends , what you think on this

While it would be sweet, I doubt it would ever truly work. Legal issues and such, plus people are naturally greedy in the occupation of big buisness.

If every game was available for every system, then there wouldn't be a need for multiple systems, would there? It's just common sense.

While it would be nice to have every game be a multi-platformer, some games just would not work on every system. This is due to fan base and the marketing strategy. For example, Nintendo is marketing the Wii for the family. While they do have a few titles that are less than family friendly, it is not marketed to the "hardcore" masses. And I don't think it should be. It's a laid-back party system, not something you sit staring hard at, pushing buttons frantically with sweat dripping down your brow. You play the Wii so you can laugh, and Nintendo has done a good job marketing it that way. The XBox you play so you can kill things and teabag their dead faces. It seems marketed to the adolescent and early adult crowds. That's just how things go.

Sure, so long as you can play the game to the full extent as you can on other systems (which is pretty tough to incorporate into different systems), then I'm all for it. God of War 3 on the Xbox please!

This wouldn't ever happen, let alone work. These consoles survive off of each other's pros and cons. If all the consoles had the same games, then none of them would survive, then they all will lose business, and after that, no more consoles. This would happen because the gaming industry strives off of competition, no matter how similar or different consoles are, and the companies need to profit to stay in the business.

It would undermine the importance of more than one console, which has already been determined as a bad thing.

As much as I would want to see it, I know that it wouldn't work. Greed rules all. No one cares about Quality, Customer Service nor Pride in Ones Own Work anymore. All that matters is how much money it's going to pay you.

Sorry, life has made me a bit jaded in this regard, but I have yet to be proven wrong. I see no altruism appearing within gaming anytime soon.

Hey. It got the Russians to space.

I would like to think that a some point, the major console makers will get sick of the expense and come together to make one uber-console for which they can all distribute games for uber-profits.

But no one likes playing on PCs anymore, so...

Some games I think should be for all consoles, and some games are. But to be perfectly honest, some should be just for a certain console. I don't want Legend of Zelda or Mario-esque games to be on other consoles.

I heard that Microsoft is working on trying to convince Sony to let that happen but it's not going well.

You forgot PC's :(

But no it wouldn't work, cross-console wouldn't work because of lisencing issues and pc to console wouldn't work because some games demand a controller to work while others demand a mouse/keyboard to work.

Developers can try as much as they want an RTS will never work with a gamepad and street fighter/mortal kombat type games just don't feel right on a keyboard.

there would be in my opinion no drive for what we now consider first party developers to continue making a quality title and lets face it for the most part (Sony i'm leering in your direction) first party games are why we buy a system...they do the best they can to draw you over to there side of the line but if they didn't have to compete...what's the point in coming out with something awesome when you can stick with the standard? don't get me wrong third party stuff is all well and good. Loved dead space, COD 4, RE5. But when i go to play god of war it's going to be on my ps3 same as final fantasy...i don't want to adjust to a new-to-this-game controller. same thing with halo, fable and, gears they belong on my xbox and those employees worked very hard trying to make something that brought me to that system and yea money is a huge part of it (Making money is the point of a business) but upping your performance to bring people to your side of the road has moved us farther in game design and the way we think about home entertainment than if all we had was the wi-play-box....but that's my opinion...and we all know what opinions are like...

Since most cross-platform games are not very good, I'd have to vote no. It's better if a game is designed specifically to take advantage of the features of one specific console. Whenever they make a cross platform game, it's almost always better on one console (if its any good at all) than it is on the rest. They should most certainly stop making cross platform games that include the Wii and DS. Those platforms need their games to be specificaly designed to make the most of what those consoles can do. Trying to shoehorn a 360 or PS3 game into a Wii doesn't work very well.
