No. I can't even believe people play for XBL. Most people only subscribe to that to game and the type of gaming you get on XBL is mostly free anyway as it is a largely P2P thing but I digress. No I will never ever pay a subscription fee for any game let alone a shooter. What am I paying for? Shitty maps that I could do better with a week of free time and a map edit software? More weapons that have just become skins with stats to add to already over saturation? More overpowered kill streaks that just serve to break what could be a decent game even further? Updates and bug fixes that we should be getting anyway because they made a shadow of a game?

No no I would not pay.

All the "I already pay for Xbox Live" seem kinda.. irrelevant. Xbox is not the only platform out there. Playing online is free both for PC and PS3. Using a subscription model would be "beneficial" (it terms of income for Activision), and I really doubt they would only pump money out of PS3 and PC, just because 360 owners already pay another fee. That's not how business work.

It's only a matter of time before MMOs are released for consoles, it really has been "the thing" lately for PC. And while consoles generally are slower (yes, I love my PC <3), they usually catch up after some time as well. Have fun paying for console, game, internet connection, xbox live and the monthly subscription.

No, for the same reason i don`t play p2p mmos, i don`t want to feel obligated to play something because i`m paying money for it, even if i end up playing only a few days per month i still gotta pay.

I already pay for Xbox Live, so I will not ever pay even more to play one specific game online. If CoD did this, I'd play more Battlefield or Halo or some other shooter. If all shooters made you pay extra to play online then I'd cancel my Xbox Live and stick to single player games.

I asked my brother this question the other day and he said hell yes, even though he pays for Xbox Live. I would never, but then again i'm not a huge COD fan.
I can't even justify paying full price for the games as in, it's $10 bin or nothing for them.

If they planetside-ed it, shit yeah. As is, no.

In order to ever have a chance at that they would have to do something to make it an MMO basically. Planetside was absurdly good until SOE finished having their way with it, if not a little early for its time. Huge void for something like that now.

But I digress, is this question inspired by what Kotick said? Because I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

Oh yes they would, surely not everyone but I bet you 50% of the fanbase could be conned into this.
They just need to say it's for servers, and polar bears, and to fight global warming,... you could even get the PETA people on it :p

No, Never, You see I would pay for a good MMORPG if it was fun, like Runescape or Rift.

But no, Never a console FPS

I pay for PSU on my xbox360 and that costs a lot as it is.

I like COD and I love shooting friends and strangers in da face but as everyone else has already pointed out we're paying for the privilege to play online (With Xbox) so why should individual games charge us to play online after having already bought their game!?

You fail to account for 1 variable: Robert 'Bobby' Kotick. He is an arse of a man IMO and nothing is beyond him if it will make Activision more money. He has already stated that if he could do one thing for Activision, he would make CoD a subscription model game.

No Joke, I think Dust 415 almost fits the MMO description and thats coming out sometime soonish (As in, the trailer is out. Not being a console user I didn't bother looking for a release date)

I'm pretty sure it wasn't. If it will earn Activision money, he will likely do it. And there are any number of 'suckers' who would pay to play CoD as a subscription model.

Personally, I'm hoping he does this so that the real hardcore CoD fans stay with CoD, yet everyone else who was just going along for the ride try some other FPSs, and will probably find them to be better than CoD.

I like playing cod and I wouldn't do it. Hell, activision are already pushing it, trying to charge more for their games than the normal price.

Of course they would. Sure, everyone says they wouldn't, but then again, wasn't there some kind of boycott related to the price hike on the PC platform recently? And don't people pay for DLC bi monthly and a new game annually...What difference would it make if it was subscription based? ...Clearly, people just hate their money.

As much as I love CoD, I wouldn't. It's definately not worth it.
I'm mainly gonna get MW3 to see how the campaign's story plays out, anyway.

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was that Xbox Live-people wouldn't get away from paying a subscription for CoD just because they already have to pay a fee for Xbox Live itself. I very much agree with you that Kotick really seem to have no limits to his greed. =/

Only if the games were free and it included more maps, more levels, and the ability to compete with ALL players from their reskinned games (black ops and MW for example).

I wouldn't, I don't even think I've played BlOps online yet.

But I have a fair few friends who would, seeing as that is the only game they play.
