It's only a matter of time before MMOs are released for consoles
You mean like DCUO on the PS3? Yeah, there already is one.

On topic. Is thou having a laugh? I rarely play it as is, paying to play online is a joke!

I think MMO's should be the only games to have subs 'cos there is soooo much content to work with, in shooters it's the same shit on different maps, with different guns ... Very few people actually play the objective, they use them as longer TDM games.

If he does, the game itself would have to be on PC, and it'd have to be updated weekly. It would also need more content.

But currently? Hell no. If they made it something like, I dunno, planetside style, then maybe.

Wow, only 8.7% of people think "anyone" would pay a subscription to play COD. Would I? No, probably not. Would anyone? I am pretty sure someone would yes.

..No, and I would actually be offended if it did have one. Why have CoD have one, but the rest of games with multiplayer do not which are free? You already have to pay $60 to have Xbox Live so paying however much extra per month for one game is a rip off.
Why do people play World of Warcraft when there are plenty of well established free MMOs? Usually because of quality, smooth controls and bigger community.

I wouldn't personally, but I know a dozen people who would.

I was not aware of DCUO being available on PS3, tbh. I do not own a PS3 (I actually only own a 360, which I VERY rarely use).

I do agree with MMO's being the only games having a decent reason for a monthly subscription, but unfortunately, businessmen, such as those now days in charge of many of the big publishing companies (rather than having actual gamers do it), would not see it this way, nor care. If people will pay for something, businessmen will generally do what they can to make people pay every cent they can.

If if was the perfect shooter ever created, had updates frequently that were new and interesting, and they balanced the shit out of it. Then I would consider paying a subscription.

That is only a prblem 'cos were on the paying side of it, if you were in a business mans shoes and you saw that this product was breaking sales records year after year, you would want to milk it for all it's worth.

Thats how business works, there needs to be a balance with business men and gamers working for publishers 'cos then the business men will always want to make as much money as humanly possible, while the gamers say "woah, you can't expect gamers to accept that and pay for it."

I mean if there are 20 COD clones and COD wants us to pay to play, why not just jump to the best COD clone? Your playing COD for free.

Phantasy Star Universe did it but you could play the story line for free

Heck no. I have a hard enough time justifying paying for it AND Xbox live as it is. I already said that I'm gonna rent CoD's from now on since all I care about is the single player campaign.

There are a few assumptions I am going to be making here, but assuming they are correct, I seem to be one of the only people (well, myself and 23 other people at this time in the poll) who is actually excited for the possibilities:

1. Activision run servers. Good God I can't count how many times I lose (and hell, win) because of one player being the host. That is the most infuriating way to get killed when I've gotten the drop on someone, put half a clip into their brain, had the bad guy turn around and stab my face, then find in the kill cam that I stood there like an idiot instead of firing (or I was shooting the wall next to the bad guy). Even if there was lag, it would be universal for everyone so we'd all have that same handicap versus one God-mode player. I've said it to my CoD buddies before, I would GLADLY pay $5 a month to not get screwed over by the host.

2. We pay $15 for map packs that come out, let's say every 3 months. I can't see this subscription being more than $5 a month and I have no reason to think the map packs wouldn't be in on this deal.

3. The price of the game itself would presumably drop (Same way that I can pick up WoW and it's expansions for $20 instead of a full-priced game).

People lacking social lives, or that follow popular franchises regardless of cost might, but I wouldn't and I like CoD.

Hell to the no

No way I'm gonna pay for something that I play once a week,if that.Bops tends to get tedious after leveling through a couple of prestige levels.

I might possibly be willing to pay like... 2 dollars a month to play Call of Duty. Maybe. Only if it's a GOOD Call of Duty. I certainly wouldn't pay to play something as awful as Black Ops or MW2.
