I wouldn't mind unless they either changed the channel or actually had to go into my office to turn it down. If the door was open, sure, go for it if it's bothering you that much, but if the door is shut, I don't want anyone in there.
The question is if I leave and they turned it down. That means we were both there before I left, meaning they could have simply asked for it to be turned down while I was there.bdcjacko said:The question is if you aren't around and they turned it off. No, you aren't following. For whatever reason you left before you could be asked and the radio was on. You didn't announce you were leaving, and the other person didn't notice right away because they were working or maybe there is a divider between your desks but otherwise still in the same room. You have been gone for an extended period of time, not just to the restroom, supply room, meeting with your boss. You have left the building. So you radio or whatever you were listening to is turned down or off by the time you get back. That is the scenario at hand. The question is, does it bother you that it was turned off while you were gone?mjc0961 said:I would find it a bit rude that they would wait until I get up to go to the bathroom or wherever to turn it down on me (I have to assume I would be returning quickly, otherwise I would have turned it off before leaving) instead of just coming over and saying "Hey, that's a bit loud, can you turn it down a little please?" while I was there. After all, I can't know it's too loud for other people if they don't tell me that it's too loud. But it wouldn't bother me enough to start anything over it. I'd just turn it back up if they put it down too low.
(So my vote is "Kinda, but I'm over it")

Not for nothing, but this was supposing you were in the same room and had no door block entrance to your desk. Now if you had your music up so loud that it could be heard behind a closed door in a work environment, that is another can of worms.MasterOfWorlds said:I wouldn't mind unless they either changed the channel or actually had to go into my office to turn it down. You didn't ask about such a specific scenario. You did not specify that the person in question turned it on and then left before the other person had a chance to even ask. You said that I left the radio on and it was too loud, so it got turned down. Don't accuse me of "not following" when it was you who didn't flesh out the scenario you wanted to discuss well enough. I answered the given question based on what parameters you set forth and what I would have done if it was my radio: not left it on in the first place if I was leaving for such a long period of time, and yes I would find it rude if I just left for the bathroom and someone who didn't just simply ask to turn it down AND lied when I asked if the volume was okay (meaning they were aware I had turned it on) rushed over to turn it down.bdcjacko said:No, you aren't following. Everyone else seemed to follow along alright.mjc0961 said:You didn't ask about such a specific scenario. If you want to have such a specific scenario, put it in the OP so people know about it from the start. Don't ask a rather open question and then accuse people of not following when their answer doesn't fit a specific scenario you were thinking of. We shouldn't have to sift through 5 pages of replies to look for more details you wanted us to be thinking of when answering: put everything in the OP so everyone sees it before answering and you'll find that a lot fewer people stray from that one specific scenario you had in mind.
Now, as for that one specific scenario you just presented me: no, that instance wouldn't bother me at all.
And why didn't they ask me before I left? The fact they waited until I was gone still says a lot to me. and if you are doing all this for the sake of the hypothetical fine, It would not annoy me.bdcjacko said:No, the point isn't when you turned it on. I agree with this - if I was playing music, I'd ask if people want me to leave it on or not, tho it's not likely to happen cos I prefer to use me headset or earphones to listen to music.Grouchy Imp said:No, not at all. In fact I'd probably apologise to my co-workers for not turning my radio off before I left in the first place.
