No. You just got to learn to better yourself against them. Sneak up behind them. If it was a real life situations, I doubt they are going to listen to "No fair, you keep sniping!"

Would wars be better without snipers?
Sniping is a crucial part of the "war-feeling" in games, without snipers, it's not a war game.

I don't have any problems with snipers.
The only thing games could be without is NoobTubes. I hate those.
[SUB]Going against NoobTubers with a single fire M14 Assault Rifle is hell..[/SUB]
depends again on game for noobtubes, love em in BC2 good for blowing out the walls and 'tunneling' towards the crates/flags.

MW2 noobtubes are annoying as hell and should be scrapped along with snipers there. Thinking about it im really just bitchin off about MW2

I think multi-player games are better when sniping requires skill, such as in Bad Company 2 normal mode or Team Fortress 2.

But personally, I think all online games should make it so before you can play a class on line, you are taught what the class does and are then tested for proficency in said class, you pass, you can play.

Harsh, maybe, but it'd help. Especially in Bad Company 2 where people gotta realise you are not Heavy, you are Medic.

Honestly, I can live with snipers. If games removed n00b tubers though, life would be a hell of a lot better.

snipers wouldn't be a problem if there was no such thing as an aimbot... you can always tell when someone has one on COD6

I like the way TF2 handled the power of sniping. Make a basic charge up that basically forces snipers to stay long range. The only problem I have with sniping in most games is it can be used just as effectively up close.
Really? Because my consistent gripe about sniper rifles in games is that they are crap accurate at close range if you try to shoot without the scope. Anything closer than 25 meters you shouldn't miss if you don't use a scope, in fact just about anyone with training would be able to hip-shoot a rifle and hit something at 25 meters.
But each non scoped shot only takes off 50 damage, and with the reload time that makes for no DPS whatsoever compared to any other class for close range.

It is possible to headshot from close range though, which takes off 150, it's just insanely hard to do so, seen some people who can though.

Sometimes.

But not yesterday. It was like... PEW DEAD SCOUT, five seconds later PEW DEAD SNIPER!, then I noticed a spy de-camouflaging on side, unzoon, pew pew pew, dead, quick turn, BOOM -450 on a Medic.

...No, I don't think so.

I voted 'no'.

However, in Counter Strike I despise the AWP sniper and the two scoped Semi-auto rifles (aka noob cannons). Thats about the only game that I hate snipers in, and luckily theres some public servers that are '-sniper'.. so yay for that.

They deserve a place in FPS games, they just shouldn't be overpowered or overused.

In small amounts it adds extra strategy because you need to dispose of snipers first.
I don't play FPS's much but i'd imagine the best way to get rid of a sniper is by using explosives, another sniper or just sneaking up on the bugger.

TF2 sounds pretty well balanced to me, there's a lot of options for getting rid of them :p

Snipers belong in FPS's. I love getting shot at from miles away and going "Where the fck did that come from?" and then sniping the bugger before he can get me. I personally enjoy close range sniping, much more exciting then camping a mile off, especially if you can get into their spawn. ~_^

Nothing wrong with snipers at all. If you've invested the time to master the buggers you deserve to be able to abuse them.

To avoid, you just have to be conscious of cover and staying out of their line of sight. Futhermore, playing as them is truly joyous, if a little tedious in brown, gritty fps games. TF2's sniper system is my favourite.

Agreed. Valve sure spent a lot of effort balancing everything.

If you don't like being sniped, be a scout, run rings around the offending sniper then "BAM!", scattergun (or, in my case, Force-a-nature) to the face. Or even pistol. I out-snipered a sniper that way once. With a good dose of luck, though.

I think snipers are just part of the games. I've been annoyed by snipers, I've annoyed people by sniping. Besides, there is nothing more I like then the satisfaction, when I knife a sniper who's been annoying me the whole time.
